The only thing that matters, is if those in power are bothered. Once I learned that in life, my life became much easier because I knew where I could and could not go.

Currently , those in power, the Attorney General and her minion in Sosua are bothered. After the next election, things could change

They are not bothered...they are looking for their slice. Being all moral...not one bit. That is what they say but it is far from the truth.

Save Sosua? It was doing just fine before the government started looking for their slice. The money does not go to the people no matter how much gets invested.

When was the government not looking for a slice? What changed?

I live here. Sosua and Cabarete have been in decline for more than 10 years.

I don't disagree. Nothing in life is done that is not motivated by money. The elected officials see how much harm the reputation of prostitution on Social Meida has done to the country. That is the reason you see actions and attempts to change things. Sosua is one place those changes are being done from time to time.

people that are so bothered by mongers and the working chicas should not enter Sosua proper. They have both been here for decades, longer than most x-pats here, and are not leaving. If they close every single bar on Pedro C the chicas will still be here as will the mongers. They work/walk the beach during the day and the bars and restaurants at night.

yes... and the wheel continues to go around...……….

I agree and I believe its long over due.
Here are some of Sosua's more recent claims to fame.

1. American/ Europeans do a topless photo shoot in the middle of the
afternoon in front of school children and makes national news.
2. Canadian news team highlights under-age prostitution, makes both
national and international news.
3. American/ Nigerian kills a mother of 4 and dumps her body in Cabarete.
(heard he's living comfortably up in South Florida now) and makes national news.

Feel free to chime in as I'm sure I've missed a few.

I'm heading up to Sosua from Santiago in about 30 min and it sure would be nice to eat
breakfast in the morning without having to listen to the Muppets / Jet Blue Gang talk
about their sexual escapades from the night before.

And if that statement offends you... tough sh*t.

From what I was told, the fella in question was able to negotiate
a cash settlement. Makes sense given the lack of follow up on the
case by local/ national news outlets. Sounds like it was quietly and
conveniently swept under the rug but again, Sosua has earned itself
a reputation many are unhappy with and I think a lot of people are eager to forget.

Sosua is only the focus on DR1. If it was not for this message board I would not read anything about Sosua.

Just Curious why you never answered the question though .. is income since 2003 PURELY earned on the Ground in the DR, or does it come from PENSION or other monies from the USA. ?

Lack of education and intelligence is truly detrimental to ones progress and lack of emotional control (beta males).

There are Dominicans living in the DR who invest in companies in other parts of the world that do not have passive income in the DR. Are these people also considered “Tourists” because they spend their dividends in the DR that are earned through investments outside of the DR?

A Tourist is defined by Oxford and Webster. Why beta males like you and Big are content in creating your own definition for nouns and verbs, yet you don’t create your own definition for other words such as prepositions is beyond me...[emoji57]

Wow, Mr Deal HD, that is a post I could have written. It certainly makes my point about what a tourist is and accurately describes those who desire to make their own definitions to fit their agenda.

Now back to the bar closings. How long will it be before the bar only locations, aimed at a certain type of tourist, on the western part of Pedro Clisante are closed for good?

Some people have a grasp of where dollars come from, they are called businessmen, others are called hourly wage earners. Sosua has both

There's only a few left. I think it will depend if Willy wins the election. He might push the closings quicker to send the people to his bar in Playa Chiquita.....or take bribes from the owners to stay delay the closing. Nobody knows.

Genuine business men have respect for people who work for a living.

Thanks, I can see the reality in both paths you mention, but I thought there were only a couple of months left for the still open bars to move or close, which means before the election happens.

Does Willy stand a good chance to win?
