I've no doubt many do. I wouldn't compare taking a girlfriend to a cabana on the same level with chasing prostitutes.
The people who live in the areas I've lived in for the most part are not that type. Most are good families who go to church on Sundays and pretty much hang out together.
That kind of people still exist (thank the Lord) and I don't mind living among them.
oh yea, everyone knows you have to go to church on Sunday to be a "good family" and its ok to bang your girl friend in a cabana just as long as you are not paying her

Once agin, this is not about me. I go to Sosua occasionally for various reasons, the most recent to pick up a Great Dane puppy. Here is an Idea... Dont like it , DONT GO there ..
I disagree.JD426 said:I have NO Dog in the fight either ..
but last time I checked , whats LEGAL is LEGAL...
Anything else here is " virtue signaling" ( your phrase) , and right now my friend .. that is exactly what you are doing.
"Girlfriend", JD you have been here long enough to know better.

I am surprised you type about "chasing prostitutes".
I never knew anyone who had to chase them.
"The people who live in the areas I've lived in for the most part are not that type".???????
I doubt you know that much about the secret sexual activities of your neighbors.
If the wife does not know its unlikely you do.

I do not mind living among them either and while I disagree with some of their values I am not forcing them to all bunch up and live in a certain section of town.
It is called live and let live but they cannot do it.
Instead they want us all to be just alike or live separate according to labels they place on other people.
I wager more than a few of the men in your good families that go to church on Sun are in the cabanas on Monday.
Its part of human nature and exists even among the church going crowd.
Live with them all you like but lets not pretend you or they are any better or special.

The topic is the future of Sosua. One point in that topic is the embarrassment and disgust Dominicans have over one tiny part of Sosua. That disgust is caused by the world wide visibility of the prostitution on that otherwise less than significant area of the country.
Garbage in the streets, lack of hospitals, police behavior , improving the beach, lack of education or cabanas that Dominicans use with or without prostitutes are all different subjects that could be relevant to Sosua. These other topics must be some of the "trees" (or shrubbery) for which others cannot see the "forest" when it comes to how Dominicans feel about the place because of the hookers.
There are many hookers in the rest of the country. I would hazard to guess, many more.
And that fact has nothing at all to do with why Domincans are disgusted with Sosua and its hookers and johns.
So, it's the fact that foreigners are stealing the hookers?
