For us 'end of the street' dwellers near the new zone, the biggest annoyance will be the horrendous increase in motoconcho traffic at all hours of the night.

Raucous, stinking two-strokes with no muffler, lights or brakes driven by drugged - up delinquents..
Had already become worse since they tarmacked the area.

God! How much I hate them already......

But nothing is going to change
I read that here.

How many people sitting in the current dingy bars of Sosua have been to Quito, Ecuador?

I worked in Quito for a while. I would commute every three weeks from Cabarete to Quito. I loved that city. What a beautiful place. One thing that struck me would how a middle-aged, over weight monger on ED pills manage to actually do anything.

With Quito being at 10,000 feet, I was out of breath after climbing one flight of stairs!!!!

It would seem that a person who is firmly entrenched with the true belief of their narrative, would not have to constantly reprise it. We understand. You are having fun. For how much longer as in it's past or current state is the topic.

Call it a public service announcement. All these reports of Sosua being the new Emerald City are doing a disservice to businesses and what is really going on. Which is the same thing, exactly, as it has been for the last 15 years....lmao Marriott, yeah that's happening

Here is a question.. If the new SOSUA Night Life is going to be so good , why are EXPERIENCED Bar & Restaurant owners ( many of who have been screwed in the past) not hopping on this Bandwagon ?
Ok, Bourbon street is moving to the new Area , granted ( mainly because they had to , imho)...
But who else ?? anyone ? City lights ? ... please ..they could not even make it as a Disco in the middle of town.
Are the Experienced Business owners who got run out of Town ( like Rumbas owner, who was a Pillar of the Community btw) Are they just too stubborn to return to get their Slice of this new Sosua
.. or do they know well enough that you dont throw good money after bad ( screw me once shame on you, screw me twice ... you know the rest ..)
Several such owners come to mind immediately ( and some of them have pretty deep pockets as well)

You speak of DR 15 years ago. The 2 strokes have all but vanished on the streets. Replaced by less smelly and quieter 4 strokes. And better for Dominicans who might forget to mix oil with gasoline for 2 sttokes.

But plenty still have modified exhausts. Nothing says I'm poor and uneducated and destined for permanent poverty like a skinny kid doing wheelies on Pedro Clisante with obnoxious loud pipes.

But it might attract an equally poor barrio bunny who is planning on getting pregnant before she's 18.

Restaurant owners are not being forced to relocate or be closed up. It is just bar/discos on a very small section of the west end of Pedro Clisante that are affected by this change. As for the motivations of the people you refer to, that is unknown. How good the new night life will be at the east end is irrelevant to the officials, they just want those business out of that small area.

Not to beat a Wounded or near dead horse ... But correct me if I read it wrong .
1)- I did not say Restaurants had to move ,.( 100% restaurant , which serves food and some drinks)
2)- I believe there was a Percentage assigned .. not sure if it was if you are 60% Restaurant and 40% Bar/ Sports Bar/ hangout spot
3)- As I recall reading it Bourbon Street was most Definitely told to MOVE..or close down, or CHANGE completely to a Restaurant ... or did i read that wrong ?
IMHO, Bourbon Street is absolutely no different of a Hang out spot than Rumba was , and Rumba were most definitely targeted and shut down .
How familiar are you with SOSUA ?
Sounds like you are getting most of your information from 2nd hand sources .
and you most def do not need to explain East ./ west of Dr Rosen
and btw .. City Lights is on the OTHER side of Rosen, near where Shark Bar used to be , across the street from the Hole in the ground ..they ARE most def a Disco/ BAR , and ARE moving because they are feeling the Heat
.. so there goes your East/ West side of Dr Rosen theory .

they will ban mongering in Sosua right after Amsterdam, Thiland, Bangkok, Rio, Tijuana, Russia, Dubai, Kenya ...Aruba...all massive destinations for the tourist seeking companship

Having lived in some of the places you mentioned and having regular contact with
people who live there, I can tell you, places like Amsterdam and Thailand are making
changes. Mostly having to do with relocating these areas or tightening of visa restrictions.
Cost Rica is doing the same with regards to their "image" and if ya still disagree with me
then just ask CubaDave. Besides, I never said anything about them banning it out right.

Why did Bobby get run out of town? Why was Willy forced to sell D'Latins? Why did Peter get
shut down? What happened to CMP? Why did Armando get deported? Again, I never said anything
about them banning mongering outright but clearly they are interested in curbing the effect it
(along with all you YouTube Muppets) has had on Sosua's image... eh?

I would surmise that eventually everything from Martinez & P.C. all the way to banking corner will be strictly dining and business commercial maybe punctuated with a select few mostly enclosed watering holes that also have a menu service with some arbitrary degree of panache - no sightseeing or meat markets.

Why was Bobby run out , indeed ... IMHO he ran a LEGIT SPORTS BAR BUSINESS with Restaurant on the side which he ADDED and MET the requirement before it was even a requirement ... his Business had ZERO to do with promoting Prostitution by the Legal definition. People are free to drink where there want
... Passions otoh, was a completely different animal, as he even had a MENU of " Services" with prices.. and CMP was a straight up Whore House ...
Rumba was a Sports bar .... if a Hooker decides to have a drink there and wink at a single Gringo , how was HE breaking the Law ? ... No one has ever been able to explain that to me .
And D'Latins ... were they not told if they RENOVATED and Served food , they would be allowed to Re Open ?
They Fell for it and spent a Ton to Renovate .. whatever happened after, with that "Grand Re Opening" ? are they open even now , years later ? do they still have some mysterious Fire Code Violations to clear up ?
Questions to Ponder , if you are a Business man who plans on Investing in Susua.
( personally i think one should have his head examined if you plan on opening ANY business on Pedro C , at this time)

I live in Cabarete. I am not familiar with the locations that cater to whore mongers in Sosua. The places the town leaders want closed will be unless they find another spot they are allowed to do business. That is what I have been seeing develop. The exact names and location are certainly not something I focus on. Just the general trends. When the smoke clears, it will be good to have a list from those that pay attention to those details.

I never mentioned DR Rosen once, by the way. Just the west end of Pedro Clisante versus the far east end. The west end of one street, like Pedro Clisante, is still a very small section of Sosua even if you cut the road in the middle.

No surprise on that. The central government in Santo Domingo has the real say on this, even in Sosua. Those calling Illana names should be calling the President of the DR those names. As if calling either one a name would stop the process.

I personally think anyone opening a business in the DR should have their head examined.

Who is Bobby (where was he from) and what was his business?

most if not all restaurants in Sosua cater to gentleman seeking ladies. The waitresses are almost all available. Cabarete also caters to single gentleman travelers . Many of my colleagues never make it to Sosua after dinner as they "befriend" the waitresses. The hotels in Cab are chica friendly and request a cedula just like Sosua

Who here is " trying to stop the process " .

Holy smokes your virtue signaling , just over the top .
WE ( not sure who you are including in that group) are merely trying to figure out what THIS Mystery PROCESS IS.... and HOW it complies with the LAWS of the Land ..

or are we just admitting its a LAWLESS Country ?? If so, then yes, there is no further need to even discuss the matter in an intelligent fashion..

As was asked before , and never answered, who is next ? Hotels perhaps, which allow these " monger " activities ?
etc etc

Not sure if you are trying to be Sarcastic, or just proved my point .
Bobby was a PILLAR of Sosua Community , who freely donated a LOT of $ to Charities and Childrens Causes .. he was a " Partner" in Rumba Sports bar, a DOMINICAN actually Owned it on Paper ... yet he was literally run out of town by Iliana Neuman and the Powers that be ..
And people wonder why Iliana gets called names and is made fun of .. ?

It wasn’t mayor who did it..she might of in Dominican fashion taken some credit....Rumbas was on Governments **** list once you get there chance of bribing or propina your way out slim to none same as settling before it hits fiscal...Bob was closed originally for tax evasion, well that didn’t stick to wall to well so Government hit hard...right or wrong you will lose this game..
Armando is where it will get interesting gives to community also ,didn’t Capone, cold beer and popcorn waiting see this play out..Now it’s not a matter of if but when the move will be enforced...problem I see is dress code enforcement from twin cores... Sosua is interracial expats and local marriages imagine your wife getting hassled by racial profiling if your in interracial marriage ...I’m not Saying Bobby is bad ,I’m saying you mess with the bull you get horns...

When your life is whore mongering that’s all you see..there is way more bars and restaurants that won’t let street girl inside with out a gringo in tow ..for a guy who knows Sosua you must forgot when Bourbon had security shoeing them away , by then it was to late perception is everything in DR...No ones against your fun it’s just changing..I see it as a best of both worlds... they are getting strict all over not just here...
