my point perxactly
I personally wouldn't mind sealing off the AIs. Maybe even chip tracking for these buffet mongers to make sure they don't get out and escape to Cab/Sosua to pursue their life long sanky/puta palm tree dream.

Keep the AIs going, big rescue package! Kill the independent who's crashing at the Encuentro beach surf shack sucking up my resources broah.

edited to make sure folks knew I didn't mean physically kill. May all beings be well!

They are saying (in Colombia) to maybe open internal flights, but ElTiempo (Colombian news) says "Extendiendo la emergencia sanitaria por tres meses más, queda claro que por lo menos hasta el 1 de septiembre continuará el cierre del aeropuerto El Dorado para vuelos internacionales"

That was on old article, new one says June 30.

I spent two days at a resort about 7 years ago. That was two days I'll never get back. Never seen so many rude, wasteful and entitled people in one place before. I'll take my galería and a few brahmas any day over a resort.

After 17 years, I am amazed to hear of that stat. That's impressive. 65%. Rock on buffet mongers.
the 'all u can' eat and drink concept encouraged by the AI's has killed more people (obesity and alcoholism) than 10 covid 19 outbreaks. At least with covid you go in about a week. With obesity its a long slow painful death. Bad knees, joints ,diabetes heart and lung problems, copd and of course the look of disgust that everyone gives you when they see you in public.

One just has to look at Brazil to understand the policy of the DR. Brazil has a huge spike in cases and I think I saw in the news that the US is considering a travel ban from Brazil.

Regarding tourists and tourism -

My opinion is -

Yes, the world and the DR are changing.... no more 'old' normal

Visas will be altered

The face of tourism will change.
Firstly, IMO, the initial tourists will be aimed at Punta Cana and the AI's
Like a quarantine - they will arrive , be escorted to their destination,
mingle among themselves - nobody outside the resort -
and be escorted to their departing flight.

Not difficult to facilitate and gets the hotel/tourist of to a start.

Now - the independent tourist.... who wants to step off the plane and go where the wind blows them -
That may be a while opening up
The 'free roaming' tourist will change for sure ... IMO

Perhaps - if you apply for residency - you'll be allowed to enter to complete that.... seems reasonable to me.

We know the DGM has been tracking overstayers....
Now, those overstayers are at a distinct disadvantage.

We have yet to see how this will develop...
but for sure...
the tourist industry will get a push... too large a factor not to get help.

as we have always said.... the AI tourist is the one that drives the industry
They will be the initial focus as I see it

The others will wait - IMO
The AI resort is just to sleep , eat and rest between outings to the city, malecon, barrio. Trapped on a AI resort, not my idea of a vacation. Just me though, i know most vacationers just stay on the resort 24/7. Waiting for the all clear here and away i go. I am guessing with a little luck October or November. Only problem might be will my work make me do the 2 week stay at home upon returning.
Wow bad timing for this virus, this is the first year i have lots of time off, now , can't plan.
That is depressing as the time keeps running through the hour glass. :)

AI or Citizen. Then we can get a break. If you're Dominican, go to your town outside of your AI stay so we can track the buffet mongers!
