526 new cases last Sunday. The new single highest daily total. Almost 40% of covid beds used. Buses running full bore.he's now playing their game...
not asking for the full time limit.... end of the month....
they should do it.... we spinning down the Corona drain quickly.....
reopen was too early... as predicted
all but 6 provinces reported increases - and now the buses are running
Of course, but at the same time he is right businesswise too. Missing July and maybe Agosto you really can forget it. September and October I could have closed my hotel any year anyway even without a virus.Seems to me, like he is strongly pushing for a july opening. I may be wrong, but that's how I understand it.
You're not wrong, that's what he is saying.
Maybe because residency requieres to be in RD at least 180 days a year? 90% of the foreigners I know with properties are in RD maximum one month a year and none has a residency. None of them has the desire to come right now to RD anyway.I don't know why folks would acquire assets here without at least residency. This was an issue for many condo owners up there in the Farallones/Catalina.
No, not really. If you follow development in other tourist destinations you can see that the trend is to do covit testing at entering. Some like greece requiere a stay of one night till the test comes back.If the DR requires a 7 day or 14 day quarantine upon arrival, after they open the country, obviously no tourists will come.
When they open the country they will also lift any quarantine and substitute Covid 19 protocals for entering. You would think this would be a fairly obvious concept to understand.
But practically quarantining the AI tourists in the AIs in Punta Cana is not protecting Punta Cana. Unless they give every AI employee a haz mat gear like in the covit wards ( i am sure thats a nice holiday feeling like in the ebola movie). If not its known from every other tourist destination before that the employees will get infected. Unless they are all in quarantina too - not going to happen. If they are stupid enough to think closing in tourists will solve anything they will learn it solves nothing except endangering Punta Cana. Wait till the infected tourists infect the employees and those every other tourist coming...nice headlines ahead.I think the government policy will evolve around protecting Punta Cana, with the majority of visitors, in the short term and the long term.

Salsa....
from what I read they do NOT enforce the mask rule...
Flight attendants are told to advise not enforce the mask rule
“If you’re traveling right now, be prepared to advocate for yourself,” she wrote, adding that, “United did not follow their own social distancing guidelines,” and many travelers were not wearing masks.
Nicole Carriere, a spokeswoman for United, said that face coverings are mandatory for all employees and passengers onboard and the airline is providing free masks to customers who need them. In instances where people refuse to wear a mask, they can be pulled aside “to further understand their concerns and discuss options,” Ms. Carriere said. “This would include things like moving them to a new seat where they could maintain a safe social distance from other passengers.”
Denying someone boarding would be a “last resort,” she said.

The 14 days quarantine is done in non-touristic countries which do not care about tourists coming. Like UK...![]()
I don't know much about Politics, but it seems that they always grant it, just a little less than they asked.
I'd say 10 days this time![]()
The current requested extension would not go into July. If the number of days is shortened or not approved it would end between June 14 to sometime near the end of June. The people who decide about the approval on this point are the Chamber of Deputies. We have to wait a few days to see what happens. Will another extension of the SOE delay opening the DR in July sometime?
Many places, including my province, have a "substantial connection" test to determine whether you can enter. It requires an application that is easily done online. Real Property would get you in. I have to keep my 180 days a year in Canada to keep the free medical etc.Maybe because residency requieres to be in RD at least 180 days a year? 90% of the foreigners I know with properties are in RD maximum one month a year and none has a residency. Reading here you cant enter RD even with residency - different to most other countries rules - is not motivating anyone to get one...
I agree and strange we can’t get it clarified. I had other expectations about the legal forum.I have never heard of anyone one with DR residency being denied reentry to the country because they were out of the DR for an extended period of time. Even people that did not renew residency for many years just paid the fees and fines for not renewing on time to become current residents again.
As for DR legal residents being denied reentry to the DR during the State of Emergency, that just ain't right.
Good! You can stay in that Island Paradise and the rest of us will have to brave out here in America. A 3rd world country as you put it.I know Dominicans within the US of A, and RD that tell me that what they are experiencing, and images they are seeing over the last two weeks remind them of Haiti. I am one of them.
You do not get more Dominican than them or I, and you do not get more 3rd world than Haiti.
