WRONG... I have never seen anything that said beaches had an earlier closing time.
Additionally there is a thing called discretion,,, That word may be new to you
But its used when people dont understand that being on a beach 2 and a half hours BEFORE quarantine, that it a violation of law
Maybe a sign should be posted???

The beaches are still closed... so 2 and a half hours before any hour would be a violation of law... :D:D
Under the famous 4 phase plane it states "opening to be announced..."

Any result from the court on the lawsuit against the latest State of Emergency (which among other things has the beaches closed 24/7)?

Not all tourist who travel here stay in AI's.
This will be a problem.

I guess (hope!) the beach rule will change the 1.7. if they really open up for traveling...
My understanding is that Tonchi was talking about going to the beach now... 🤷‍♂️

Cabarete
That is definitely true here in Boca Chica. The beaches are closed, except when they're not.
That's the same here in Cabarete. A friend of mine has been running on the beach early morning between Viva Wyndham and La Cienaga 3-4 times a week for two months now. Said there are quite a few gringos and Dominicans out in the morning on the beach doing the same. Never any problem. Appears it's being enforced differently in different parts of the country.

From what I've been hearing the past two days.
After the elections the new government will be
looking at tightening the restrictions (as a form of punishment)
because people are not doing what they've been
told to do. This includes closing down all non-essential
businesses again and adding more hours to the curfew.

Very much needed...

we should be placing bets on when the first 1,000 case day arrives

Vincho Castillo complaint rejected by the Higher Electoral Court. PRM submitred the case to Constitutional Court. Should be a while.

I guess we will know if that is true around August 16 when the current president steps down and Abinader is likely to succeed him.
You know, the people that wanted to end the State of Emergency powers already, which would open the country totally?

I am sure that imposing restrictions again in August will fly like a lead zeppelin or iron butterfly.

What a shock that all beaches are not patrolled all of the time.

I suspect there will be some non-AI tourists when there are flights in. The vast majority will still be AI tourists as before.

The July 5 election almost certainly will not be delayed. The new president takes over on August 12. I don't bet on such things.

I doubt you will see any 'non AI' tourists for a while
Mongers wont be flying down
to Colombia or over South East Asia anytìme soon so I think we'll start seeing them
down here as soon as the airports open but whether or not they'll stick around oř come back again is the biģger question.

I see you edited out my 1,000 a day statement

That's what is needed - to curtail the case increases and sadly - that calls for tighter adherence to the protocol
The distancing, the travel restrictions, the curfew

I don't like it any more than you do....

We here had too much too soon -- just like some of the states in the US
and we are paying the price ....

Europe is a good example for us here.. not the Home of the Brave....
============================================================

My friend says it well here - to quote him ~~~~~~

All the signals are very bad and especially in the capital and Santaigo where hospitals are filling up quickly with cases and intensive care too.

I wrote that we could expect this after the crazy phase 1 opening and we could easily see 1000 plus cases per day now with enough tests.

With an election coming up it will only get worse.

We are heading in the wrong direction like all of the Americas except Canada and Costa Rica. We couldn't take the pain and the virus is now thriving in conditions of high mobility and places here where social distancing is being ignored.

We are entering the 'selfish phase' where we people do what they like until they realize the severe consequences on society, and then they will simply have to clamp down on mobility and self distancing in all its forms again.

It so sad that DR didn't follow the proven routes of Asia, Europe (except basket case Sweden) and the NE states such as NY and NJ, to take the pain until the virus was sufficiently supressed and open up slowly and regain some level of normality.

Aug 16 for change of president? Why would you bet?
