The curfew is so ridiculous and continues to prove how inept government is in RD. Obviously they think the virus is a vampire that only infects at night. What idiots. Just keep things as they are if this is your answer. The asymptomatics are walking around all day but only at night are they infectious. Idiots

You are seeing this through the eyes of a foreigner or tourist. The reality of the situation is much different. As noted above, there has been an uptick in violence recently. Not everything is beaches, beers, and bawdy behaviour.

The main problem for the DR is the population make up. In the UK and USA black people have worse outcomes if they get infected. If that is also true in the RD it could be disasterous

Fake News. The "Latino" population has been the hardest hit.

We probably need to go back to the first set of restrictions. with the police being ruthless with people gathering too close together. and not wearing masks. You should have to declare the reason you are out of your home during the day and at night zero tolerance for any gatherings on private or public property. It's the end result that is important not civil liberties and the right to socialize, those have already been stripped by the S.O.E. The people have the ability to control the spread of this disease, if they won't do it voluntarily then they need to be forced to do it. I'm all for a fiesta tip line that brings the authorities to break up inappropriate gatherings day or night.
The problem is if you're going to prevent a small group of friends from sitting outside their house on the patios, they'll all just go inside which will only increase the chance of infection.

If you're trying to address violence through a covid curfew that is even more idiotic. Again, allowing the people to do whatever they want until 7pm or 8pm will do nothing to stop the spread or ease the strain on the medical system. It's not gringo thought its common freaking sense.

It worked through the first SOE. Very well.

You are correct.
In several larger towns along the south eastern tier there has been an uptick in violence since the previous curfew ended. Largely associated with past vendettas, and persons jockeying for new positioning within a certain seedy underbelly.
Well put.

avoiding a full shutdown is obviously the aim here, and it can be pulled off with cooperation from the people.
beaches and parks can be open with social distancing, bars and restaurants can do takeout/outdoor seating with distancing, CLOSE the BORDER, retail locations will have to be severely limited in how many people can be in that location at any one time, begin a nationwide contact less food delivery somehow.
and put sirens on everything to make Mr.T happy.

On 11:15 the next first lady speaks about her experience with Covid-19 (Luis Abinader and one of their daughters were also infected a few weeks ago).

calm down toto...its just a message board
Yes, it's "just a message board", thus my question . . .

AND ? ? ?

The video I posted was seven days old on the date of upload.

For some reason you needed to incorrectly post this:

"that video has been circulating for a few weeks now"

What difference does it make, two weeks a few days?, it's important to see what is currently going on in the hospitals with an actual video instead of some of the bullshit being posted here on DR1.

My question to you had nothing to do with aggression . . .

Your answer to me had everything to do with intelligence . . .

Sorry . . .

Mr. Andre and all, allow me to present this situation in a different light, which may assist you in seeing things from an alternative perspective. I was going to create a new thread line regarding this situation, but my first hand, factual information will do just as well here within this one. No need to create further clutter.

While the Covid Curfew may not seem to be necessary for those persons who's recreational activities are being infringed upon, and others whom believe it is fruitless to try and address minimalizing violence and/or vehicular accidents through these measures, you must be made aware that there is a severe shortage of blood within blood banks throughout the nation.

Most often injuries inflicted through violent means, and vehicular accidents result in a need for blood. Blood which must be purchased through blood banks. Due to the last several months of Covid related activities, blood banks are operating with bare minimum supply levels, along with some blood types being unavailable throughout several provinces.

Just this past week, I assisted an employee who needed Type B+ blood for a family member. Although the blood was needed in La Romana, there was none to be found within LR, the surrounding provinces, nor Santo Domingo as well. More than 20 blood banks were contacted in search of this supply, all with negative results. I was finally able to acquire two pints and have it transported by a contact residing in Barahona. My employee's family member was allowed to proceed with his imperative surgical procedure, and I am happy to say he is recovering well at this point in time.

The Covid Curfew, while despised and ridiculed by some, is addressing several behind the curtain concerns, and this needs to be understood........even if it is a spoiler for your recreational activities. Minimalizing violence and/or vehicular accidents to protect the precious available blood supply is just one of those behind the curtain concerns, and may save your life as well.

I did not think of the blood supply. This is very enlightening Cao.

Many people do not, until they need it, and by then, it may be too late.
How many persons do not even know their blood type?
How many persons do not know where their local or regional blood banks are, or the process one goes through to obtain the blood?
Vacationers hardly, residents or those long term stayers should.
The price for the pints of B+ was 4850 DOP per. The price was never a question. The availability or lack thereof, as well as time constraints were the issues in play.

If possible, could you publish the list of blood banks, with contact data?

Unfortunately, I do not possess sufficient free time to do so. This is where personal responsibility comes into play.
A quick Google search of "banco de sangre + the province within RD needed, will provide you with results, that you will need to investigate further and verify. Some locations found within a quick search are no longer operating, while others may have differing hours of operation.
I can tell you that the blood bank my employees most often rely upon within LR is Banco de Sangre Esparta:

Again this is a ridiculous way to address the problems you described. Those problems have always existed and will continue to exist once covid is long gone. You dont put your entire population under a curfew for the actions of the less than 1% (which typically occurs in poor barrios and are drug related). Also if this were the case there was absolutely no reason to end the previous curfew. Again violence is not a new issue for RD. Finally violence will continue curfew or not. Its simply human nature.

In the end, it all smells the same.

That answer makes absolutely no sense to anyone who can critically think. Nothing against you but whoever told you that was off their rocker. Have a good day sir
