There really is no right or wrong here.
As clear as I can be whether I know you or not, whether you are Dominican or foreigner, if you are staying in any type of medical facility here within RD, it is encouraged that you have a family member, close friend, trusted neighbor, or caring person with you for that period of time. It is for your benefit.

Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.
Is this not correct?

Just look at US increases in the last weeks.
CV19 is not going away for a long time if ever.
A vaccine and actual vaccinations for the general public are off, at best by the end of next year for developed countries.
Less develop countries will not receive vaccinations till the end of 2022, in a best case scenario.
Factories for the production of mass vaccines are not yet build and not possible in advance for generic vaccines.

So far infected in the world 15, 600,000 deaths 634,744 and rapidly rising.

The effect on economies and government debts is just beginning.

You have painted the accurate picture, but what are the conclusions?
Closing the travel to US tourists would bring next to nothing, as there are also travelling Dominican citizens who carry the virus.
Closing all airports for everybody was the right measure but now it won't work by itself. Only closing any congregation >= 3 non-related persons would bring results. This means a ban on all public transport, shopping malls, restaurants.
The Dominican goverment is like a child scared to go to the dentist because he knows the pain is unavoidable.

In any case I reccomend a closer look at the countries, which brought the virus spread to low, controllable, reasonably safe levels.

You are correct in your evaluation of our assertions, and I believe Mr. Windeguy has been correct on this from the start, in that you can not hide from a pandemic.
The only persons that have 0 problem hiding in their houses and desiring to "wait this out" are those who receive monthly stipends/payouts through trust funds, pension checks, or government social welfare programs.
The rest of the world is supposed to starve.

For crying out loud.

The overwhelming majority of those tested have symptoms. 80% of those infected are asymptomatic. Do the arithmetic.
