Cabarete
If you have access to facebook look
At Detrás del Rumor, Fabio took a drive through Sosua at 4:30 just before quarantine.
The town looks less than appealing or vibrant for tourism.
A sad statement of current times.
Dominicans are suffering.

As to local situations, I just talk to my family daily and friends all of who live there or in the area.
Where'd all the mongers go? Big difference between yesterday and Friday.

How many tourists come is wholly dependent on local infection rates, and whether the airlines reliably deliver and pick up people from Puerto Plata airport. Few but the most dedicated will fly into Punta Canada and then transit across the island to get to Sosua. Being able to easily come and go is of the utmost impotence and being able to return home without arduous isolation restrictions is a very close second.

Most tourists will not come.

The UK foreign office has instituted quarantine again for returning tourists from Spain.
TUI has cancelled flights to Spain again.
Madrid flights still are scheduled for the DR.

In general EU citizens will not endure the long flight 10.5 hrs if they even become available and possible quarantines and infections in planes or AI's.
The same goes for Canadians and US citizens from the West Coast or parries.
Some Canadians may travel from the East Coast.
Americans from NY and Florida seem to be the most eager.
Looking at the current situation in the DR, it looks less than inviting.

Americans and Canadians have far better options closer to home with far superior infrastructure.
So do EU citizens, if they are not concerned about infections in Mediterranean resorts and closer to home or in their own country.

Whore mongers (aka "The Saviours of Sosua") provoke far more stimulating discourse than anything that ever happens in Cabarete.

Cabarete has had some very corrupt mayors since I have lived here, millions have been embezzled. Communities built and continuing to be expanded that are on protected wetlands - think La Cienaga where the land was filled in and titles given by the former mayor. Beaches appropriated - think Encuentro. Environmental disasters such as the Marriott construction at La Boca and Lifestyles in Cabarete Center. All of that doesn't generate nearly the interest for some reason. You post is an example.

Also, keep in mind, when people say Cabarete, they tend to think of the area of town where the beach is. Cabarete runs from La Boca up until past CMC before you hit the east end of Sosua near Super Pola. Super Pola might actually be in Cabarete, I am not sure on that point. Not only are Callejon de la Loma, Barrio Blano and La Cienaga in Cabarete, but so are Casa Linda, Sea Horse Ranch, Haciendas El Choco, ProCab, Costa Azul, Perla Marina and even Sosua Ocean Village are in Cabarete. That strip of beach bars is just as much "Cabarete" as that small section of Pedro Clisante is "Sosua", but what discussions that little strip of street brings on.

You are correct,
The centre of Cabarete is Gringolandia with their casitas and condos and the costly luxury developments.
A viable spot for kite surfers.
Once out of the congested centre things rapidly deteriorate towards Camino del Sol.
Sabaneta and La Cienega are representing real Dominican life for those without gringo spouses with casitas.
Sad areas as are most average Dominican barrios.
Under the current situation and forseeable future Dominicans are suffering.

What is all this cut and paste propaganda. You mention gringolandia? Are you Dominican? What is the point of all this garbage you are posting. Sounds like you've tipped back a few and don't plan on stopping.

Well Gangster,
It shows you what is going on right now on the North Coast and how grand it is.
I know reading Puerto Plata Digital may stress your brain.
See the difference between news and propaganda?

Gringolandia is Sea Horse Ranch and Cabarete.

Sabaneta, La Cienega, Charamicos, Sosua Abajo, La Union, Loma de Los Chivos, Montellano, Puerto Plata is the real DR.

Actually it was the same.

Fabio recorded that video after 4:30pm and close to the 5:00 curfew. One hour earlier it was exactly the same as Thursday and Friday. This afternoon is no different. Everybody just starts to move "off the street" starting at about 4:20.

Perhaps that is because you are only ever on one or two streets in Sosua? Just like people identify Cabarete as just the beach area when it stretches for the distance I indicated above.
Pretty sure my confusion was because I read street signs and look at maps. Casting aspersions about people being whore mongers is getting old.

After watching the video I'm wondering how many of those
establishments where Fabio pointed out the patrons for not
wearing muzzles,
will be closed down (again) until this nonsense ends?

I think it will be a different story for the next couple weeks now that the word about the curfew is out.

No idea what the first sentence above is supposed to mean. If you did look at maps , you would see how large Sosua (and Cabarete) actually are.

I do not try to cast aspersions about individuals. My comments are general ones about whore mongers. How mongers comically consider themselves as the "Saviours of Sosua" for example. How whore mongers are geographically focused with tunnel vision on one part of one street in a town with 50,000 people as another example.

As a Libertarian, I am not against what two consenting adults do as long as it harms no one.

Well for purposes of this discussion the "Sosua", the part between Sosua bay and approximately 1 1/2 mile east, it is in fact propped up by the play for pay set. Every single bar and restaurant caters to "gentleman" and their companions. We can pretend that there is this massive ex-pat factor that is keeping the town from crumbling or this new alleged Dominican middle class that is turning the downtown into a mini Punta Cana but its just that, pretend. Did someone say "Sabaneta" was part of Sosua? Because thats clearly not what this thread is about.

Forgive me as I find it confusing when the likes of Sosua Ocean Village is really in Cabarete. For all I know you are going to tell be that Cabarete is part of Sosua.

For certain aspects of local government, Cabarete is "under" Sosua. Ever try to see a "fiscal" or go to the JCE in Cabarete?

Fun ends in Sosua at 5pm today. I wonder how many mongers and/or chicas will be too blitzed to remember, if they even knew in the first place, and get arrested? Should be interesting.
I don't think that will be much of a problem. Most of the weekend warriors were at Kings (formerly Rumba) and Ray closed up early to allow his staff to get home before curfew ,besides I didn't see anyone blitz that early (not that it doesn't happen).

Addressing the highlighted portions of your posting in order.....

1. This discussion or thread line is titled, "The Future of Sosua", not "The Future of One Street in Sosua".

2. Gentleman? Perhaps our definitions differ, but please show me one video to be found where "gentleman" are seen on that one street in Sosua.
Identical to the word father, to be a father one must be a male, but not every male can be a father.
To be a gentleman one must be a male, but not every male can be a gentleman.

3. Why the enormous pushback against currently rebuilding around the foundation in order to attract the decent ex-pat factor, and Dominican middle class? I state building around, because the foundation is already set with the natural environment. I do not believe any person is calling for a mini Punta Cana, but a decent seaside village is not far out of the grasp, and yes would attract those with real money.

It seems to me that you enjoy talking about 1 street in 1 small town and then lump it in with the 50,000 people in the area, as if they all live there. When somebody suggests the Ritz is in Sosua using your 50,000 people in Sosua narrative, everybody gets upset.
