Not nationwide.
Different hours for different sectores/municipales/ciudades/provincias, and enforcement of such is selective. Dig deeper.
If you were actually here right now, as I am, you would understand this clearly.
Please leave the former Off Topic rhetoric there where it belonged. Sheesh, some people.
Any visitor coming here right now will have a better time than where they are coming from.
As I was transiting home from my fincita last night at approximately 7: 20 there were quite a few people in the two restaurants I drove by. When I arrived home, unloaded all the crap my wife decided we needed at the house it was almost eight. There were lots of people walking to wherever, and I was out as well checking to make sure the school was secure and the cops drove by and waved. I think they are even more tired of the curfew than the rest of us. My sons and their wives would be here already if they didn't have a 14 day quarantine affecting their jobs.

No, I meant what I said. "sick" and "asymptomatic" only pertain to YOU. You can be either of those things, and still infect others. It's actually worse if you're asymptomatic, because you're not even aware you're exposing others.

My aunt was 65 and had pre-existing conditions. Are you suggesting I'd share with the family that, "well, she would've died soon, anyway?"

Anyway, the most dangerous thing about the bug, again, is how easily it is transmitted. Hopefully it doesn't find it's way to someone vulnerable that you care about because of the careless actions of someone more interested in their so-called "freedom" to walk around without a mask and with dirty-ass hands.

Please be very careful about your trip. You're heading into two parts of the country which are expected to really get hit by the bug.

It is my understanding that the new tougher restrictions in major cities of DR are to prevent social gatherings during the holidays, not because they actually expect a covid surge in those regions.

It's a preventative measure.

Well, the bug, and science in general, doesn't really care about what you "think." We have folks on this board who have almost died from this thing. I have a family member who DID die from it.

So, you can prognosticate all you want about levels of severity. In the US, 300k people are dead from this thing, millions more have been stricken. Some people are asymptomatic, others will have permanent organ damage. Much of this can be avoided by wearing your damn mask and observing social distancing.

In the DR, the curfew has just been shortened because of well-grounded concerns about the bug spreading. Until there's a readily-available vaccine, we all need to exercise caution for ourselves, and for each other.
That doesn't work obviously. And the 300K is "with" CV19. The comorbidities and other chronic health issues are the real problem.

Speak of the Devil.....
Thanks for keeping us up to date with
what's happening up there in the US.
300K? I thought it was closer to a million? I might have it confused with them folks marching...
Either way, I do appreciate it.
Well, with all the proud boys marching in DC, and GOP rallies in Georgia, both largely without masks, it could certainly spike.

I sincerely hope folks in DR continue to take precautions, including keeping their distance from NAs, because right now Americans' collective lack of common sense in being smart and safe can impact them.

It was inevitable.
Many people get lonely during the holidays.
If you are truly interested in RD, come and visit. You are more than welcome.
Today. Here and Now. Not one time in band camp.

How on earth does the government expect Dominicans to just stay home on New Years Eve???? How will they manage the ensuing mayhem and resistance? This isn't Europe, Dominicans are a social/gregarious people there is no way everyone will just comply and go back home at 7PM on new year's eve.

Interesting you mention the revolts chico bill. Just last night I spoke with a friend who has a 19-year-old son. He and his friends are not buying into this. They call it a PLANdemic. The great reset. He told his parents ( who are total paranoid coviders), that he and his friends are getting tired of this and they are starting to organize.
I suspect revolts by our youth are coming soon. Tell a 19 - 30-year-old he cant go dancing, date, have sex, associate with friends,
can't work, no travel, and you have a recipe for disaster.
One other point he made to his parents- He and his youthful friends believe the Virus is real, they just think it's an old person's disease.
I thank God i did all my "youth experiences" before covid.

Its so sad to see the 18-30 year old age bracket, especially the younger crowd, spend their most gregarious years under lockdown . Can't meet friends, go out, get laid, travel, do shenanigans and all those stupid things that made us all grow. They can't even work normally because all those retail and customer service jobs that cater to young people are being shut down. Unless they work at a grocery store or something.

GEN Z is really having their youth interrupted.

I don't think they will even bother to try to enforce much on New year's Eve. It'll be easy to close the bars and restaurants, but I'm sure there will be a lot of parties in the barrios. I have quite a few friends and acquaintances in the barrios, but I really don't hear a lot of opposition to the curfew, not enough anyway so far that I expect to see any major protests nationwide. Some tire burning maybe in some barrios, but that's about it. The locals seem to have taken it in stride and are pretty much in a state of resignation.

So was the family member one of the ones who did not exercise caution to wear a mask or wore it faithfully and still contracted the virus ?
Because I think masks (many nothing more than a kerchief) are not preventing anything and are causing more problems by trapping moist carbon dioxide and volumes of sweat around your nose and mouth

You reap what you sow. Lots of examples in every country . People go out and the numbers go up. Holiday gatherings will see new cases within family groups. Some may die, others will feel miserable and others still may experience long term complications. Is a couple slices of turkey and stuffing worth the risk? Say hi to the family in a group call on your phone. Drink your ponce in front of your own Christmas tree. Protect yourself and your family/friends. Limit the amount of money you have to fork over to the healthcare system so it is available for food and other necessities. Choices are a good thing to have but there is always a choice that is worse than the alternative.

We'll make victims out those Dominicans too.

You ok man? As per your itinerary, shared with us all here, you had an afternoon meeting up with others outside your bubble. You then commit crowd porn by eating, drinking/eating in a crowded setting without masks.
Sniffles, runny nose, dry cough? A propensity to look at ugly girls? Too soon?

When they create hsyteria among the unwashed that the vaccine is " scarce" I'd bet 500RD some young enterprising lads standing outside
Playero in high season will have a supply of this most precious "cure". Obtained from their cousins Mothers brother who has an Aunt that knows a doctor close to the President.

Trust and obey, for theirs no other way.

The perfect virus. No matter what you do or say, it will get you.
It's the only virus I know you need a test:alien: to know you have it?!
As I mentioned the inventor of this test says it does not work for these types of Virus, was never meant for it, and called Fauchi to debate-he would not- and called Dr. Fauchi an idiot.

Now only if we can reign in those obnoxious, selfish, stinky cigarette smokers who pollute the world we live in, and expose us to their unwanted carcinogens when we try to breathe fresh air.
Eh?

Wondering if any of the big vaccinators want to rent my 1985 DeLorean for a little trip back to the past? It has a working flux capacitor.
Doubt it, they wouldn't be making Trillions.
Millions are never enough when Trillions lie around the corner.
