I predict the curfew will be lifted if and only if the proper number of people are vaccinated. It could be Q3 of 2021, but I expect it will be closer to Xmas time.
Last time i checked the curfew also has a no live school component..all in the same covid 19 times.LOL. Please explain how exactly the 9 PM curfew affects the educational system. Are there classes after 9 PM? I did not hear about night shifts at schools in DR.
I see how it affects people who want to hang out in a colmadon, with loud music bothering the whole area, they get as drunk as they can there and then drive back home drunk at night. I'm glad that they can't do that with the curfew.
I am 99% sure it won't be lifted for Easter. Easter is not a "good while" away, while Xmas is.Before that -
We need to deal with Easter !!
Republica Dominicana is a distinct society , it is what it is, like it or not.Did I say Hell Hole? I said there's no normal nightlife. Yes, exactly. Go to Miami or LA or Amsterdam to see normal nightclubs. Go to Las Vegas to see normal casinos. And for some kind of fun that is not to describe on this board I believe, it's better to travel to Panama, because before Covid it's where you could find the best Colombian girls, and you can drive all night around the city in Panama and there are no idiots blinding you with high beams, police don't stop you to extort money, and there's very low risk to get in other kinds of trouble.
But all of that doesn't mean that I have to move to any of those places permanently. I can afford traveling to them as often as I want, I used to travel every month before Covid. And while I'm in DR, I could drive to Punta Cana to enjoy some all inclusive resort one week, then drive to Las Terrenas to enjoy another one next week, then spend some time in Santo Domingo, then travel abroad again. And I will do it all again after this 'wear mask, present PCR tests, etc' virus crap is over. But right now, when I stay in Santo Domingo, I like the curfew because the city is quite and calm at night. And I don't care if bar or restaurant or nightclub owners go out of business, it's not my problem. I don't care about anything that doesn't affect me directly, why should I?
I'm not taking sides in this, but I do think that you and several other posters are doing just that in this thread. I continue reading it because I am interested in the original topic - whether or not they are getting ready to remove the curfew.Well, I don't want to argue with you for the sake of arguing.
What a strange thing to boast about!Well, most who know me would say I'm an asshole
This guy is a joke.I care about restaurant owners but I'm not a F***ing idiot. I keep trying to give you the benefit of the doubt but your comments are so inane and you obviously no NADA about the country or culture. I frequent many restaurants and so support them financially but I am not their financial backers. Many would not need financial backers if the draconian mesures imposed by the powers to be, which you love, were not in place.
Obviously I gave you too much credit for critical thinking.
Just my form of Sarcasm. What a strange thing to boast about!
This just proves that YOU have never lived in on a high floor in a high rise. When you have floor–to–ceiling windows and you are on a high floor, you have MORE noise than on the lower floors, because all noise from objects that are on a line of sight with your windows, comes to your windows and there's nothing between the object emitting noise and your window to stop that noise, no trees, no walls of other buildings, nothing. So you hear music from the cars, people banging car doors and trunks, loud mufflers, companies of drunk idiots laughing and screaming at 4 AM, everything from all the streets around. By the way, when I lived in Panama on 40th floor and 3 walls of my bedroom were floor-to-ceiling glass, it was a total disaster, I could hear somebody sneezing on a sidewalk a few blocks from me at 4 AM. So the higher you live, the more city noise comes to your place if you have floor–to –ceiling windows. This guy is a joke.
If he were living in a highrise he wouldn't be complaining about the noise unless he were on the bottom floor.
It affects overall occupancy since people wont come at allI don't really see how curfew starting at 9 pm affects hotels. If your hotel guests can't go out after 9 PM, they will consume some food/beverages at your hotel premises instead of spending money in an outside restaurant. But I see how curfew reduces night crime and makes the city quiet at night.
Other posters here already said that:It affects overall occupancy since people wont come at all
All through the pandemic, I have been checking them for weekend deals and almost none of them have them. Many of them don't even have rooms available unless you book in advance.
The hotels are busy at the moment with people who are indeed staying all their trip in Santo Domingo.
Other posters here already said that:
So the 9 PM curfew doesn't affect the occupancy of SD hotels.
And it has nothing to do with the occupancy of Bavaro resorts either, people from other countries don't come to them now because of the virus, lack of flights, PCR test and quarantine requirements on return, but not because of the curfew, if they come they don't plan to go outside those resorts anyway. In fact, many people from SD are going to Bavaro resorts on weekends now to escape the curfew, because they can eat, drink and party in those resorts 24/7, so the curfew brings more local visitors to the resorts, that's how they survive now.
Right, there are flights from Spain. So they want to come here. There are still no flights from other European countries, Russia, Canada, etc. They want to come but they can't. If flights start and there will be no quarantine on return, they will come here and they don't care if the curfew here is lifted or no. They want to come to resorts and stay there, the curfew doesn't affect them at all.![]()

So you bought a ground floor unit with shoddy construction without proper insulation. Your killing it E.This just proves that YOU have never lived in on a high floor in a high rise. Off topic but...if I was 15 years younger I would like to do a high rise. With all those steps it's a gym unto itself. So you bought a ground floor unit with shoddy construction without proper insulation. Your killing it E.
I never claimed to live in a highrise nor have I ever had the desire too.
Some people can't read, it's the part of their culture, right? I am on 12th floor in Naco with unblocked view, floor-to-ceiling windows. And I am very glad that the Government decided to leave the curfew in place. I can enjoy the silence at night, no drunk punks banging doors of their cars and talking loud at 3 AM on nearby streets, no crappy music from their cars, nothing, they stay at home because police will kick their asses if they go out at night, and I am very happy with that.So you bought a ground floor unit with shoddy construction without proper insulation. Your killing it E.
