Cigar Aficionado reports there is a boom in premium cigar imports to the United States. This is good news for the Dominican Republic, a major cigar exporter. As reported, in January 2021, the Cigar Association of America said nearly 21 million handmade, premium cigars were shipped to the United States, up 55% over January 2020.
The growth was the largest for the Dominican Republic. As reported, January’s Dominican cigar exports to the US more than doubled over the same month in 2020, soaring from 2.4 million premium cigars to 5.9 million.
