Private schools that reopen face penalties from the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education in the Dominican Republic has had a strong stand against reopening to in-person learning. Instead, the Ministry of Education is spending billions on radio, TV, internet programming, and electronic devices.

Private schools say they should be allowed to reopen under the strict protocols used in many countries abroad. Increasingly more private schools are offering in-person learning with the parents’ approval, despite the order to stay closed of the Ministry of Education.

Yet, on Thursday, 29 April 2021, the Ministry of Education says “no” to general in-person learning and threatens to take actions against schools that reopen without permission. The Ministry of Education has yet to authorize private schools to reopen.

It is neither health or science, it is a minister afraid of the teachers unions. If privates schools open and have no covid spread then the pressure will be on the public schools to reopen. Some schools will will allowed to open in 24 more municipalities, including La Vega and Constanza, but not Jarabacoa. There has been 9 or less cases per day in the whole province of La Vega for 5 weeks.

It's good news that the ministry of education always has the best interest of the children in mind, as that's the way it should be... There goes the education...

They already have egg on their faces from the massive failure of their online classes, and they have put out massive amounts of money to buy computers...etc.
( from connected companies of course, with money making its way back into politicians hands)

reminds me of the joke about johnny being 6 foot tall and in the 3 grade. The other kids made fun of him and he wanted to know if it was because he was 6 foot tall and his mama says the other kids are making fun of him because he is 18 years old and still in the 3 grade. I think this is the result the goverment here is looking for. dumb and dumber
