If eating in tourist areas not only will you "pay through the nose" but the quality on offer is usually subpar. Taste or lack there of is also very subjective, in all things.

Interestingly many people have told me, and posted here on DRuno I believe, that the McD's in the DR is different and possibly better. I can't recall the last time I was in one since I don't eat fast food and definitely not McD's. It may have been about another franchise but the thought is the same.

I would however like a piece of the profits since Dominican's seem to love American fast food. I'd much rather exist on rice and beans. Luckily I have options and am a decent enough cook ;)
The McD's in Santiago definitely sucked. But that was years ago. I can't imagine a McD's in the DR that doesn't suck. I doubt I will ever go to the one in POP.

Chef Pepper is good and regarding American food I can recommend Gringo Burger in Las Terrenas. Their Jack Daniels Burger and Chili Hot Dog.

If Popeyes were here, nobody would ever go to a pica pollo again. Their batter fried onion rings are the best I've ever had.
Before the pandemic the Popeye brand was being registered. I have no idea if it's still in the plans to open Popeye's in the DR.

Next to the Jumbo they are building a McDonald's. This will be the first stand alone McDonald's on the north coast, part of the expansion in recent years mostly in the Santo Domingo and Santiago areas. It appears it isn't open yet, but opening day shouldn't be too far (unless a new Covid related nationwide shutdown is imposed.)
Don't go. Eat fresh organic fruit, veg and meat from dominican farmers.

All American fast food sucks.
It's just fast food, to produce conveniently at low cost for the outlet to improve profit margins.
Nutritional values are zero and detrimental to your health.
Burger joints, Subway, Pizza, fries, soft drinks, bad fat , sugar and salt.....

There are many countries EU, Asia where one can get quality healthy street food.
If you want a good burger make it at home.

I like Taco Bell. That would be the biggest winner here as well.

I wouldn't call it Tex-Mex either.
I eat I think just twice at Taco Bell and maybe I was unlucky because I didn’t like it. In fact it was so bad I remember one time was in London, England and the other once in Santo Domingo I think on Lope de Vega.

It's foul trash, garbage, yet millions upon millions eat it. I have Colombian friends, Mexican too, that love it and think of it as just another fast-food treat. I would starve before eating it LOL
