Nope, there's still no official date for when it will be opened again, it can be in a couple of days, couple of weeks or even months, who knows...I was told that the bridge opened to light vehicles yesterday. Is it true?

Probably was built by "Bridge & Dine Co."Nope, there's still no official date for when it will be opened again, it can be in a couple of days, couple of weeks or even months, who knows...
I'm not slamming the DR engineering - nor the response to the logistical nightmare of re-routing traffic and of upgrading the detour. They have done a wonderful job.Don't be too quick to slam the DR engineering....
I would venture to make a bet that bridge was a standard off the shelf truss design from the US.Don't be too quick to slam the DR engineering....
That bridge has lasted a respectable amount of time.

It looks like a water ski jump William, and not DR related, SMH.
They have done a pretty fantastic job in my opinion. In spite of the sometimes maniacal and "entitled" drivers encountered there in the last 2 weeks.I'm not slamming the DR engineering - nor the response to the logistical nightmare of re-routing traffic and of upgrading the detour. The post on FB said they were allowing limited traffic, in one lane, in the direction TO Puerta Plata only. So it would seem the detour would be used for all traffic going to Sosua.I am coming from Santiago to Cabarete today. Is the bridge open for a motorbike?
Thx. Ill go via Sabaneta then. The post on FB said they were allowing limited traffic, in one lane, in the direction TO Puerta Plata only. So it would seem the detour would be used for all traffic going to Sosua.
I will be able to give you an accurate update in a few hours as I will travelling that way shortly , however I do know for certain that they are allowing light limited traffic ( one way atleast ) as of 2 days ago.I am coming from Santiago to Cabarete today. Is the bridge open for a motorbike?
Was it green enough?Don't be too quick to slam the DR engineering....

This bridge is older than Trujillos grandmother and perhaps for those times it was more than " good enough " and no doubt the original developers nor govt at the time ever anticipated the boom of tourism that would eventually emerge and how vital this one little crossing the size of a football field would be...Was it green enough?
Did they use recycable materials?
I think it's because they know that would cause long lines on either side of the bridge waiting for their turn to cross and they know Dominicans have no respect for lines or waiting their turn. Very soon you would drivers on both sides jumping the line and the inevitable traffic jam. Much better to let one side to cross the bridge uninterrupted and make the other side take the detour. Why they are not just taking turns from both sides for people to return is beyond me.
