I know the city government of Las Galeras, Samana prepared everyone for the worst. Samana is expected to receive the brunt of Fiona around 2pm.

Is anybody reporting from Samana areas like El Portillo/Las Terrenas?

The eye of the hurricane appears be just East of this area of Samana
Getting reports of tin roofs blowing off in the town of Samana and surrounding areas. Saw some video of Las Terrenas. Winds are picking up but there was still one guy out drinking, trying to hold on.

Power out here in Bavaro since 2 am last night. Some places have power. Cocotal for example apparently. Maybe not all of it. But all of Cortecito is out. Playa Turquesa too. Light winds now. No rain.

Fiona was centered 35 miles (55 kilometers) southeast of Samana in the Dominican Republic, with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph (150 kph) on Monday morning, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. It was moving to the northwest at eight mph (13 kph).

Tropical storm-force winds extended out for 150 miles (240 kilometers) from the center.

My friend in the town of Samana tells me that the eye has passed, and the back side of the storm is starting to pass. The boats in the bay changed direction and the wind is starting to howl again.
