yea, they are still pretty much novelty items. Owning one is like having a new hobby. I do like the looks of the Tesla, if they made a gasoline or diesel version, I might score one.

an electric tractor trailer is a pipe dream. Dreamed up by the climate fanatics. Reefer trailers and dump trucks require way too much energy and torque. I see a good amount of dump trucks here that are older, and many are in remarkable condition.
Reefers are not not typically run off the Tractor's power (occasionally they can be), but they are run by a separate small diesel motor on the trailer and can be left running once the trailer is parked waiting for off load or another tractor

Once again.......cherry pick much;

Let me know if you need more.

And the best part about the Leaf's circulating in the PC region is the electricity to re-charge them is being paid for by CEPM.

Note that the Leaf is discontinued and will be a totally new and re-designed model in 2026.

A bit off-topic... But I'd just like to say how pleasant it's been to read most of the interaction on this thread... I've found myself giving thumbs-up likes to folks on both sides of the matter of EVs... Just because they have been so informative.

Having and presenting different opinions in this manner can be very helpful and progressive... Thanks.

My neighbor's 1997 Mazda caught fire 4 weeks ago - but it was an electrical fire not a fuel fire. His under hood fuse box shorted out. Since then he had the fuse box and wiring harness replaced (for 16000 pesos).

Since most cars are no longer fueled by carburetors there are very few fuel-related fires.
Of course if it's a salvage title or had weired mods done to it, a car might be more susceptible to fuel fire. You just don't see many car fires.
I had the experience of my '98 Ford Taurus catching fire when I used a bit of starter fluid spray to get it going... I guess I used too much.

Thankfully I had time to run to my garage and get a bag of kitty litter get back to the car and throw it on the burning spot, which was just the plastic around the intake that I had sprayed the fluid into... It was very scary, especially given the other cars close by. Funnily enough, after all was done, I was able to start the car and then go find a replacement for the burnt part at the salvage yard.

Haven't used starter fluid since.

I never said it was FREE....only that CEPM was paying for the re-charging. I imagine they take a little out of everyone else's monthly bill to pay for them.

Electric cars by and large are fashion statements. A gas-powered car can do the same thing cheaper and more conveniently. Electric engines are very powerful and can actually out torque gasoline engines. However, they require massive amounts of energy to accomplish the pull. A freight train is actually driven by electric motors, but to power the electric motors there are huge diesel generators on board and fuel tanks that hold several thousand gallons of sweet Texas diesel.

You cannot be that naive...or can you?

CEPM subsidizes those EV's charging as part of the tourist project that also involves CEPM. Do they show it as a line item on your, or any customers factura,...of course not....but you are paying for it in your "highest rates in the DR".......because as you said, nothing is FREE....you just did not realize you are the one paying for it.

It is common on DR1 to put a link next to some outrageous statement of fact. Where is yours?......And furthermore anyone charging an EV with CEPM pays the going rate for electricity...............CEPM gives them NOTHING.........

Of course not...open your eyes SKY.

What part of "our fleet will be all electric by 2022" do you not get......and it is all electric......and they charge them for FREE.....on their own chargers.........paid for by their customers.

And you live there right?

You are a JOKE. Read what it says. All electric by 2022. Are you aware that the year is 2024 and you posted an OLD article that is as obsolete as you are. I am done, keep posting your baseless and useless rhetoric. And by the way Punta Cans is shaking about the tourist count in Pedernales......LOL

And what part of all electric by 2022 do you not understand. They have been using all electric vehicles since 2022....yet you have been there many years and never saw one or any of the Tesla's or all those Chinese electrics roaming PC?

I do hope you are done, because you seem to hurl insults when you are unable to have a decent discussion.

Since you brought up Pedernales (Cabo Rojo)....you know the place you said would never be built or that there that there never was a hurricane in Punta Cana. I could go on......but you said you are done.......so I will take you at your word and leave it there.

I don’t know if this electric vehicle brand (Riddara) is new in the DR ior this is a new model (or both), but it was shown in the most recent electric vehicles fair in Santo Domingo. I guess this too is from China.

In a different color in one of the VIAMAR showrooms in SD.

Several colors. This pick up actually looks nice, not the horrible “Cybertruck” which should be illegal. Lol
