Arajet had flight recently to Lima but something happened, medical emergency so they had to fly back to SDQ. But problem the medical is little far, Boca Chica. See it: https://www.flightradar24.com/DWI1964/360a419d

if they move to PUJ, they have medical center about 1/2 mile away so more closer, I have the feeling the move would make sense.

I just don’t see it as possible unless they get those additional 10 planes and the crews needed to fly them. Crews are limited to flight time. That time, usually begins the moment the plane door is closed. Any delays in pushback or takeoff and landing affect those time lines.

Look for them to scale back certain routes until they can get those additional planes and crews, especially if they are cleared on long haul routes to the US.

Respectfully,
Playacaribe2
They have the crew and plan to do it, the 9 planes they already have stay long period grounded and the time they can use it flying those routes to USA. for every 10 airplanes one must keep grounded as back up and they can planned to fly when one of the other is almost landing and rotate the airplane grounded.

Moving PUJ will take out of their plan Dominicans that are a good % of the pax.

Santo Domingo
Between Jan and May 2024 arrivals in SDQ the qty of Dominicans that live in Dominican Republic was 229,247 pax, Dominicans living aboard 247,956 and foreigners 560,203

Punta Cana
Between Jan and may 2024 arrivals in PUJ the qty of Dominicans that live in Dominican Republic was 20,394, Dominicans living aboard 28,007 and foreigners 2,213,030.

I have a ticket for January and Im waiting to receive the email telling my flight changed to ask for refund, Dominicans will go back to fly with Wingo, Copa and Avianca. Another point that will tell if their move to PUJ will be success its competition, a lot people says will be better than SDQ because every body wants to go Punta Cana, yes that's true but they announced will have flights there, Gol from Brazil announced will increase from 2 to 3 weekly GRU-PUJ, Latam Chile will increase from 2 to 4 weekly using B787-900, Aerolineas Argentina fly 4 weekly using A330 and announced sales for 2 weekly COR-PUJ, Latam Peru increase from 7 to 14 weekly, Sky Peru increase from 7 to 14 weekly, Wingo starting September increase 75% their offer to PUJ, Avianca increase to 3 flights a day and Copa has around 7 flights a day, They didn't tell yet their at moving all flights but if they only see that every body wants to visit Punta Cana looks like will cancel SDQ flights, but lets see how they can manage with travel agencies that are who fill those seats and no Dominicans to fly with them as we do from Santo Domingo.

Canadians Airlines they buy the rooms in hotels in Punta Cana and sell the packages, Air Transat has programmed 2 flights a day for this winter from YYZ and YUL using A330, Air Canada use all kind of Airplanes from 787-800 and single isle, Sunwings also buy the rooms and fly to people to PUJ from different locations in Canada. Fly to Punta Cana its not like other airports in DR that you only have to say I will fly, in Punta Cana things work different.

PD: Wingo started to fly to PUJ with Cheap flights and very few Dominicans went there to fly with Wingo until they started to fly SDQ.

I read that 21% of the occupation in the flight to Sao Paulo are Dominicans so they can start subtracting that percent from the new route PUJ-GRU-PUJ

Most people on this route would be connecting passengers...............
There are a lot options, I think that route may work with travel agencies, Dont think people would be intrested in travel from one beach destination to another beach destination that are very similar in the offer. by the way I was watching a video from a Peruvian traveling from Lima to Santo Domingo cheap with Wingo, I did the search from SDQ and the cost was 464.00 dollars and aprox. 11 hrs in Bogota, If I do that would stay at least one full day in Bogota.

Cancun is more than just a resort town. It's a huge city with a population of almost one million people.
La Altagracia province itself doesn’t have 1 million. In fact, there are only 2 provinces (Santo Domingo, Santiago) + the National District with more than 1 million each. That’s it.

PC has to be around 150K, 200K tops. The public areas for the most part have a bad urban design (little to no urban design is more like it.) The private areas are for the most part private communities and none of them have a traffic issue at any time. While they cover most of the PC-Bávaro area, most people aren’t allowed in them.

The next place to see much growth is Macao, which is mostly empty for mow. Zoning was changed to allow highrises. That growth will happen regardless if the area has a tip top urban design (should be done now) or not,

A more important question is why PC/B is still a municipal district when it has more people than several entire municipalities.

Arajet take no wait, they are start selling tickets from Punta Cana.

They are moving flights from SDQ to PUJ, my wish its they at least keep 2 weekly flights to the destinations they are moving to PUJ, with that move they will loose the Dominican market filling these extra seats in those routes. Sao Paulo its not available for Booking none stop from SDQ and now appears buy bus to PUJ.

I searched flights from SDQ to Sao Paulo with Copa and prices are very good, including the 3 hrs to be ahead in Santo Domingo the trip is done within 14 hrs, while taking the bus at SDQ parking lot we must be one hour before the bus departure plus 2 hrs travel by road plus 3 hrs that you must before your flight at the airport we have 6 hrs plust 7 hrs flying then we have 13 hrs, so I would say not to Arajet as I'm sure many Dominicans will do. As I said Wingo started flying into PUJ with the same cheap fares that Arajet has now and Dominicans didn't go PUJ to fly Colombia, so now dont think that change.

But I keep my hope when they finish with programing of the routes we could fly by air to all destinations at least 2 days week. They will stay flying to Colombia, Cancun with 2 weekly and Mexico City with 3 weekly. We will see.

The SDQ-JFK-SDQ routes isn’t an “if they will be successful.” Given that its airplanes are relatively new, with Dominican services and offering many Dominican products (I know the Coca-Cola in their flights from SDQ are from the bottling plant in SD, what what about those offered on the flights back to SD? I think they would be the unsold from the same batch that left SD, but you never know), expecting better treatment (airlines such as Jetblue already have a tarnished image in the Dominican media) and perceived lower costs; I would be surprised if the SDQ-JFK-SDQ routes aren’t successful. The Dominican diaspora that lives in the tri-state area can alone make that route successful. Then add the Dominicans living in the DR who have visas to the USA since NYC is a popular destination for them.

The JFK-SDQ and the JFK-STI routes are essentially highways in the sky between the DR and the USA.
