American dies at detention center in Haina

Apparently it’s for anyone being deported. She was not identified until recently. I’m wondering if she was a black American mistaken for a Haitian? She had mental issues (ran out of meds maybe????), maybe couldn’t communicate. Whole story is strange.

or do you mean being detained and taken to local police detachment
then pressed to either pay a small bribe and go home that evening...
or understanding how this little game works, decline their "offer" and spend the
night in a cell with the rest of the people who declined their offer?

Immigration isn't out detaining law abiding people.

I didn't think of that but it makes a ton of sense if she's black. A couple of years ago I saw a tiktok video of a black dude being detained in the back of a migracion pickup. He spoke perfect English but yet they wouldn't let him go. He did not get deported but had to spend I believe one night in jail. Just horrible.
