Yeah, same with Cuban food. They all taste very similar. I'm just not one to eat rice all the time. Maybe once a week if that.

In my house, we could eat rice EVERY SINGLE DAY and not one of us would get sick of it!!! its like our staple....

I make lasagna and my mother goes "wheres the rice???" ahhahaha its such a habit!

So, what's your favorite Dominican dish?

Mine is (moro de guandules, with bistec) for lunch, with Dominican salads.

Mangu con cebollas fritas and salami fritos for dinner

And Yucca with scrambles eggs for breakfast.

That's rare, your mother or aunts didn't teach you how to cook? My little sister is just 14yr and she cooks since she is 12yr.

I never learned how to cook because boys were not allow in the kitchen :paranoid: when i was growing up, now that i'm by myself i have to buy my
food :bored: so i eat a lot of Mexican, Chinese and American food :tired:.

We have Dominican Restaurant here in Atlanta but it's to faraway from where i live (45 minutes) lazy driver here.

I never said I don't know how to cook..I just don't know how to cook a lot of the Dominican dishes, but I'm learning. I mostly cook Italian, American, Asian and Mexican food.

WOW, spoken like a true dominican, its so hard for me to adjust to the order of meals in DR.

Lunch is always the heaviest and dinner is always "viveres".

Mine:
Lunch (if i were in DR) arroz y habichuelas rojas con pollo guisado
Dinner- Arroz y habichuela negras con RABO.

Breakfast- Yucca, cebolla fritas, queso frito y salchichon y aguacate.

I LOVE RICE AND BEANS!!!

You admire someone for eating their meats well done? ok

well para el gusto se hicieron los colores. THere is nothing wrong with a nice medium rare bobby vans steak with some steak asparagus!! TO DIE FOR, delicious meat thats tender and moist and just tasty.

Yes it's the Dominican way/cuisine, and i'm proud of that. People here think my Dominican friends and i, are picking when eating, because we don't eat their food, that they spent 5 minutes cooking.

YET, i LOVE me some pepper steak well cooked how i learned to make it from my dominican mother. DOminican (hispanics in general), can sometimes over cook food. I remember growing up thinking "damn it takes mami long to cook".... yet now, its like I cook in 30minutes

You've been in the the U.S. for too long, when you start saying that your mother and hispanics in general over cook the food. NO food on Earth compare to Hispanic food.

But what the hell is the point of cooking a piece of steak for like 30minutes????

What the hell is the point of cooking a piece of steak for just 5 minutes???? just it eat raw:cheeky:.

I just "love" when women (anywhere) think that the kitchen is "their" domain(and only theirs). All the world's greatest chefs are men... most cooking programs on TV have the men chefs... I usually leave cooking to others, but when it's necessary, I can prepare myself (and others) a tasty meal... :)

You're right, i love ceviche, i first tasted when i was in Peru 2yrs ago.

Can't agree with you on the "Sushi" part though.

You and I are in the same wave length.

I like some sushi's (shrimp) but not all.

Ceviche was also introduced to me by my ex-wife who is Peruvian.

True Peruvian ceviche is cooked with just the acid of lemons!!!!!!

It's no longer than making mangu for breakfast, just put it on the stove while you get ready in the morning ;)

I know people are busy, but honestly, who wants to eat fruit loops every day ;)
