This is the Dominican Republic and it's their country, I'm going to be a long-term guest...maybe until the end of my days... I love this country because I feel more free here than the USA. The only thing I would change here is the law that says your guilty before being proven innocent. If it makes you feel better talking down other people...so be it, but you look ugly to me...

You did a very good thing having your hotel NOT GUEST FRIENDLY. No prostitutes, no sex tourists. You can be proud and respected by honest decent visitors for this.

Who needs Sosua ?
Want to go Dutch ??? then you need to go to Curacao. more modern country, better weather, great hotels and of course the nightlife is teeming with a nice mixture of locals, europeans and columbian women.
AND, for you tourists who seek the women, there is club allegre a campground facility for your every need.
one word of warning, if you're a cheapo then stay in sosua.

Hotels are expensive in Curacao and the food is almost inedible, been there and never again.
I can at least eat the food in Sosua

As I read through this post I swear I'm living in some other town with the same name as "Sosua"...I haven't noticed any of these supposed big "changes" around...

I did see some police on the street the other night for about 15-20 minutes before they disappeared...the girls simply stand near the closest gringo they see so as to appear to be "with" him until the cops go away...that's hardly a major change.

All the bars seemed to be doing the same business as usual...even that "no unescorted women" thing is hardly new, I remember it from at least 5 years ago...

I did see a curtain on one place...but again that's not a major change. In short I not only haven't seen major changes I wouldn't expect to. Only an inept fool would throw away the competitive business advantage that Sosua enjoys. The place is what it is...if people want DisneyWorld well that's only a short 2 hour plane ride away. Sosua cannot become or compete with that and thus should and will remain as it has always been.

i can believe that. these naysayers who think they "see" changes are worse than the people that think Jesus is coming back.

there are no real changes, just diversions.....

Fascinating stuff reading posts on this thread. Did someone ask about the number of bastards born by foreigners in DR, well, don't get excited I don't have the number. But I can easily tell you that once you found it you can add quite a few zeros (or may be a lot !) in front of it and this new one will be the number of bastards fathered by Dominicans.

As for sex tourism ruining DR, you might be surprised to hear that local Dominican men indulge in prostitutes in hundred times more than tourists. In fact looking at any hot-spots around the world concerning sex tourism you will find the same. I believe the locals and their antics usually promote and encourage sex tourism (even is the cause of it in the first place).

Whoever thinks foreigners are to blame for these problems of the country is living in the coco land - clean up the act of the locals first if you really care to help or do anything positive for those little girls who get pregnant by Dominican guys and set up for a life of misery.... (then they do have to come to Sosua looking for tourists for milk money)...

Great thread Uzin wholeheartedly agree!!! Next time posters start talking negatively about foreigners and ex-pats partaking in sex tourism and racking up numerous girls think about how it was created first and who perpetuates it. Prostitution in the DR has been there for many many years instituted and exploited by local Dominican men before foreigners came to dab in it. The local men are the ones responsable for this and yes they do impregnate Dominican girls and women and then take off or have little money for child support. In turn Dominican girls and women prostitute themselves to make ends meet its ONE OF THE REASONS this continues in the DR. Alot of the younger age Dominican men tend to not want responsability nor pay child support nor raise their kids on the contrary they rather be socializing with friends, drinking not looking for employment to fulfill theur fatherly responsabilities. The country is infested with too many of these low lifer tigueres who only care about sex and partying!!!!

lol

I think it is only fair to mention that upper class folks, like myself (lol), usually have sex and partying in my mind. Sure, after all responsibilities are taken care of, but vodka, music, and arse is usually in my thoughts.:laugh::laugh::bunny::bunny:

I?m sure your not aware of the existing laws in the DR to obligate any Dominican male to care for his child, no matter whether fathered in or out of wedlock. These laws existe, and of the many stringent laws in this country, I will tell you, that is among the toughest. This law is fairly simple, either you maintain you child, or you go to jail.

Should any woman get pregnant by a Dominican male, she has many avenues and recourse to her disposal to force that man in taking care of his child. This however, depends on whether the woman decides to force the male by way of the justice system. The fact of the matter is that in the small towns and villages woman for lack of education, don?t normally look towards the system to aid them. This however, is not the case in the bigger towns and citys.

On the other hand, although I?ve never bothered to count, I have seen many little black babies, with blond hair, and fairly lite eyes. Who tends to them, I wonder.

You know baby bori, being coherent is what gains you respect from the other poster. You my friend are not very coherent, in one post No. 215 your aggandising the roll of the Dominican and PR male. In this one your calling then irresponsable

You have to be more coherent if you want to be respected.;)

Apparently you have a bit of difficulty deciphering or understanding my commentary. The coherent comment on your end has no basis its fluff. Read my threads word for thread you have wrongly interpreted them. In my latest thread I commented on Uzin's commentary which I agree with basically that prostitution in the DR was implemented and primarily caters to local Dominican men and the majority of payers for play are Dominican men themselves its a proven fact just live in the DR for a few months and you will comprehend this in a heartbeat!!!! There are many deadbeat men and dads who don't care of their women and children here in the DR unfortunate sad but true at a greater percentage in proportion to the overall population than in many industrialized developed first world countries!!!! Analyze well word for word elaborate then make rational commentary Taino you're probably a good guy so I'm not mad at you for that poor comment!!!!

so let me get this straight.....

Jesus is not coming back? Now that's classic. Religion and politics definately don't mix.
