Punta Cana is for grocery shopping etc no more expensive than the Cities.
we have here some of the usual supermarkets like SuperPola, Nacional and Llama, fruit stands for veggies and fruits all around.
sure, if you live at a condo in the middle of Condominium-City El Cortecito, then the fruit-trucks etc have their prices a bit "adjusted" to the Non-Dominican Appartments Neighbourhood, lol.
as a Foreigner, new to town, you always pay your addy, Islandwide.
count as living costs what you would need for the same level of living back home(US, Canada, Western Europe), it is more or less what you will also need for living in DR.
