The guy on the right looks like a real bad coke dealer ! Seriously you lock up the guy who reports the duffels ?
It was probably a maintenance crew person.
It is insanity to keep them locked up longer

Unbelievable there's no info on the passengers. It's just as likely a passenger was involved as the crew members.

They haven't been sentenced for anything so I don't see this as an option and last time I checked, the DR government does hold court proceedings in Canada.

Back home we used to say "nobody talks, everybody walks"
Perhaps they'd a been better off not telling the police anything.

I can tell you the conditions.
They are horrible. They get crammed into a jail cell where there is barely ebough room to sleep on your side and the cells are exrtemely dirty and smell like an open sewege tank. Regardless of where they are from or who has been detained/ arrested for what, the prisoners are housed together in the same cell. The PN along with these facilities should ALWAYS be avoided at any cost.

The over riding lesson here is do not call the police.

You want people to help and not make the problem worse, call the local fire department.
The FD will respond fast and not arrest or shoot you.

What is the plan for after the fire dept. shows up?

Have you actually done this? What do they say when they show up and there's no fire?

My gut feeling is the problem will be resolved in a few months after enough money passes hands and before the start of the Canadian tourist/snowbird winter migration to the DR. The latest justice department effort to place the crew back in prison is just another attempt to extort money from the defendants and their company. By now, any solid evidence should have been collected and court proceedings started against the accused.

Several Canadian media services recently aired news items painting the DR police, prison, and justice system in a very bad light and the items keep appearing. Abinader and Trudeau discussed the issue at the America’s summit meeting last week In a side bar session. Abinader is a major supporter of DR tourism. He’s smart enough to realize the implications of the negative publicity.

I haven't seen anything that says they're trying to put them back in prison. They're on bail for the year until the case comes to trial (or more probably, gets delayed).
