Canada air crew caught up in ‘hellish’ Dominican Republic drugs bust begs for repatriation
Five-member crew was detained after they found a bag of cocaine on 5 April and spent nine days in jail in a ‘hellish situation’
It was good of the Canadian government to expedite the one man's citizenship so he can continue receiving Canadian consular assistance.
That's assuming the airplane didn't burn and crash on the way home.Perhaps they'd a been better off not telling the police anything.
One of the reasons he called is that the drugs were in jammed in the wiring and could catch fire. That's assuming the airplane didn't burn and crash on the way home.
Thank you. Very scary I'm sure and the Judicial system is crazy there. Lucky out on bond for sure. Government won't help for an reason. Been there!
you have a source for this ?One of the reasons he called is that the drugs were in jammed in the wiring and could catch fire.
I can tell you the conditions. The engineer must be new.lol.
There is no way there in on it.
At least there out of jail one could only imagine the conditions.
The Ground person must of been to early with the stash.
What is the plan for after the fire dept. shows up?The over riding lesson here is do not call the police.
You want people to help and not make the problem worse, call the local fire department.
The FD will respond fast and not arrest or shoot you.
Have you actually done this? What do they say when they show up and there's no fire? The over riding lesson here is do not call the police.

I haven't seen anything that says they're trying to put them back in prison. They're on bail for the year until the case comes to trial (or more probably, gets delayed). My gut feeling is the problem will be resolved in a few months after enough money passes hands and before the start of the Canadian tourist/snowbird winter migration to the DR. The latest justice department effort to place the crew back in prison is just another attempt to extort money from the defendants and their company. By now, any solid evidence should have been collected and court proceedings started against the accused.
Several Canadian media services recently aired news items painting the DR police, prison, and justice system in a very bad light and the items keep appearing. Abinader and Trudeau discussed the issue at the America’s summit meeting last week In a side bar session. Abinader is a major supporter of DR tourism. He’s smart enough to realize the implications of the negative publicity.
