Not to go too off topic ..…yes… most of what you will find in DR are the aluminum type cabinets …but the ones we’ve seen so far look tacky and cheap ….plus …they make a lot of noise …and need a lot of cleaning …especially with kids . Yes , steel cabinets are rare in DR ….but you can see more...

Most probably …eventually . I’m guessing rust will be easier to deal with …lemon juice and salt …than termites , mold , wood issues etc . Five years strong ..still as good as new …Rust-Oleum is on standby .

We tried Ikea …lasted 3 years ….tried custom built …even worse …anything wooden or wood-ish in DR gave us one problem or another …so ended up with Steel Kitchen cabinets…problems solved …long story.

Yes…for tourists . Worked for us the few times we tried it …and for our Dominican neighbors ?…almost every time . They didn’t cancel the reservation ..why would they ?…they knew what to do …and we just paid the local price🤷 . I don’t think we …or most locals …would book a hotel or resort….local...
