I prefer a weak TS hit over nearby hanging and influencing sh.tty weather patterns of a nothing like this ex-Gabrielle, now named Invest 92L and hanging north of the DR.
a weak TS means just 2 days sh.tty weather including
approach, walk over/hit, leave and aftermath and right away all is fine again.
maybe some powerouts for a couple days, so what? after 2 days all is back to sunshine, mostly even quicker.
I hate da Biaches hanging around for so long as this neast Gabrielle, a P.I.T.Azz.
today here on the east:
we are back to our normal windpowers of 10-12mphr, a bit gusting up at times, but nothing to notice.
we are mostly under a light cloudcover, a few short sprinklings isolated by areas at some locations.
not bad if you live here, but our Tourists will get mad without their "All Inclusive Paid For Sun" after more than half day without da sun, lol.

enjoy a great sunday

Gabrielle is definitely one slow-walking woman. Overcast on the south coast today, too, though nothing dramatic -- except the always overly dramatic neighbor screaming at her kids not to get her wet because she went to the salon yesterday.

as usual, it changes in a eyeblink.
since a few minutes we are under strong windgusts and get rain in from the SSW side/landside.
on da Tropical locally isolated weather, you never know, it changes within minutes.

Tropical Storm Humberto is born this morning SE of the Cape Verde Islands.
the Storm is slowly dropping pressure, so it should become the first Hurricane of the Season early this week.
i do not follow details of it's powers/growth, as he will wander westward passing the south of the Cape Verde Islands and then turn NNW-N towards the Azores, Humberto is not any concern for the Caribbean, so no time wasted on him, he is just for the records.

as for the own actual surroundings,
seems like today will be the last day of the anti-beach weather here on the eastshores.
we had this morning again sprinkling on and off under a light cloud cover, wind is since many days(exception the one short rainburst with windgusts mentioned in a prior post) dead calm</zero, Ocean is since many days a flat plate, down on zero level even offshore.
Radar shows that the rainareas off the South and East of the DR are little by little dissipating, there will hopefully not come anything else of the cloudy stuff behind, at least i can't spot any further such wet progress at the moment.
not that anything here on the east would have been bad, i personally like a light cloudcover on windfree days, the flat Ocean conditions are perfect to bring the kittens including the smallest out on Sea, but as this is freakin' Punta Cana Tourist Mekka, means without 24/7 full Sunshine and zero Rain (but the same time of course a green healthy vegetation to take photos of) thoise people go into bad moods and that means less people wanna go fishing, and if nobody wanna go fishing then the Fisherman get's in a bad mood.
so pleeeease, weathergods, bring back da wind and waves and let the sun shine for da Nut.heads.

for our Island there is no Stormy in the makes for this week, so we should get our Beach BBQ weather back soon.

have a fantastic new week everyone

the 2013 hurricane season was not really as inactive as it looks due the lack of a Hurricane.
it started very early with record early cyclone numbers, and we still have cyclones on the map, at this moment it is Tropical Storm Humberto near the Cape Verde Islands which should become the 1st Hurricane of the season.
we had the disturbances with the potential to become Hurricanes, like the over all season forecasts expected, what those long range forecasts did not have in consideration been some very significant occurances which Hinder upcoming Cyclones to grow up to higher levels/become a Hurricane etc.
such occurances been for example two close behind each others very dense/unusual high amount Dry Air bursts leaving the African Mainland during our hurricane peak time, the first burst made it even all the way over the atlantic and reached the Caribbean Islands, we felt that and its effects ourselfes here in the DR. such is not a often happening, so none of the long range forecast models had that in count.
2nd, and other very rare occurance(in fact i heard this season about this influence for the first time of my life), the superlarge country Brazil been under record draught, a many billions dry out desaster, so from down there a very unusual high amount of dry air went up from Brazil to the Caribbean/Tropical Atlantic of our highway.
we had the stormready disturbed weather areas, but the dry air together with a well stable Atmosphere hindered those thunderstorm areas to organize and grow up to higher powers.
those occurances, to happen that strong in the 1st place and then to happen together, such was not considered in any long range forecast on the shown Season Hurricane outlooks.
we already passed a significant part of our DR-Season's peak time, without anything more than some days of light cloudcover at this moment, that's goooood!
but there is still a way to go before the 2013 season will come to an end. waters are hot, the Monsum far East of our Paradise was strong and produced a good number of such later on named "disturbed weather areas" which are on the run and many of them will hit the tropical atlantic waters around the Cape Verde Islands during the next 6-7 weeks.
we look actually very fine for this week, yes, that's rare for this week of the year, once finished september we can start to feel better/safer, even that such is never written in stone.
Mom nature could be nice to us til end november and then early december a small but nasty Tropical Storm walks right over us, popping up over night close to the shores, growing quick and coming ashore quicker than warnings could be send out over night. such is also rare, but we had it in the past, too.

let's be happy that this year the rare thingy is that we are on the calmer side than usual, it does not happen that often that the news show something like "very quiet season/hurricanes are a no show this season", usually the news is full of High Power hype of big storms and meantioning of threats to millions of people on a coastline.

i am very happy with this year's season so far and have no problem to spend time for nothing searching the maps for lil dots which may bring a 5 minute downpour to our beaches, lol.

update on the actual movement in our surroundings.

a new disturbance is up over the western caribbean Sea, moving towards Yucatan. it should not have any influence on our Isle, as it will not become a tropical cyclone over the caribbean Sea, but has high chances to grow up over the Bay of Campeche in the southern Gulf of Mexico after it passed over Yucatan, a no show for ourselfes.

Gabrielle is a Tropical Storm again, steaming northwards on a good 12 knots, she will not influence our Isle again, turn out on open Sea wandering NE'wards finally.

Tropical Storm Humberto in the eastern tropical atlantic passed the SW'ern Cape Verde Islands very close, producing heavy rainfalls. he is already on the "turn", moves now WNW and will continue the turn to finally move NNW or northwards, a sweep around the Cape Verde Islands which will be under it's harsh and dangerous influence for some days.
Humberto is dropping pressure, very well organized and shows heavy thunderstorm activity, he should be declared a Hurricane very soon now.
Humberto will not be any concern for the Caribbean Islands.

the actual weather here on the DR eastshores:
we are sunny and dry on average summer weather conditions with a average breeze, looks like we are finally back to normal.

Gabrielle stays a nasty beast and brushed Bermuda last night with windgusts exceeding 50mphr on the measured scales there.

as expected Humberto become the 1st Hurricane of the already half finished 2013 season.
well done but small, not expected to threaten any landareas, he has just 30-40more hours to grow up, as from then on unfavorable conditions will hinder further progress.

since around a week we have a tropical wave silently wandering the Tropical Atlantic/Highway East-West, not mentioned anywhere, as no development been visible and everyone been watching out for Gabrielle and then Humberto and the system which passed Yucatan into the Bay of Campeche.
now that Surface Low Presure area is very close to the Islands and started to produce thunderstorm and rain areas. it is an other pain in da Behind slow moving/hanging around cloudy system which may approach our vicinity in a few days.
it is on a heading westward hooo since many days.
no models predict development into a tropical cyclone for the next several days out of it, but we anyways have no fear of some wind, it is the slow moving/once in a while stalling out rainy systems which bother the DR East, running our tourists mad due their cloudcovers for a while, like No Show TS Gabrielle did after she "missed" us.

nothing further to watch out for.

as for the actual weather on the East of the DR:
we are on a perfect sunny Beachday, average summer weather conditions. it is hot, low to medium winds, low to medium Sea conditions, full sunny, hot hot hot.

Gabrielle seems to live for ever.
she still holds her Tropical Storm status, despite the cooler water she is wandering up there, and may still be a TS Force when hitting into Canada's Maritimes.
no news on Humberto, the models are in agreement about it's further paths, he should move outto open Sea, not threatening any landareas there.

the Low Pressure Area located a few hundred miles east of the Islands seems to calm down on its rainloads, looks well dry this morning, moving west now and is expected to take a more NW'ern track later on.

the actual weather over here on the Eastshores:
full sunny since early on, it is calm with low wind and below average Ocean Conditions,
a perfect beachday to be.

yeah Bob, that's something i always enjoyed back home in the Fall, growing up on SW'ern german countryside, the Fog and the fresh feel of the cool air that time of the year after summer ended.
sorrily we do not have such over here on the DR Eastshores/Beachareas, we get the heat 24/7 all summer long.

cheers

hey Guys,
no worries,
that i post here now has no reason like a new storm coming up to us, just to stay up to date.
while the weather around the globe runs wild with devastating record floodings of once in a 500 years in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, stalled out Tropical Storm Ingrid a lifethreatening Water Danger for the already heaviliest saturated Mexican Gulf Coast (with TS Manuel approaching the same areas from the eastern Pacific Side),
during those harsh times we are here on our lil Paradise Island just very fine.
no dangers in vicinity and none of the Models calls for anything to come up during the next days, so an other weekend without worries it will be.
here on the East we've been all day long and still are completely calm, it is hot, zero wind, zero waves, just clear skies, and that should continue for the next days.

happy weekend

all clear around the island for a Beach BBQ Weekend.
no dangers in vicinity, nothing expected to come up during the next days.
TS Ingrid stays a mayor pain in the behind for the southern Gulf Region and increases the area of spots to hit by the hour, that storm's final destination is still not set in stone.
she was stalled out fo a long time over hottest waters, covers a very wide area with deadly heavy rainloads, drowning everything on her path.
after a drift westwards last evening she is moving slowly/5knots NNE today, so she stays perfectly fine away from the Mainland to continue to gain powers and last much longer dumping down waterloads.
she will continue the northwards move for many more hours, before taking a NW'ern sweep to hit somewhere between the Mexican Mid Eastshores and southern Texan soil.
Mexico's Gulf coast is already saturated to the max since a while, so Ingrid's rainfalls are very bad for the region.

enjoy a great sunny weekend everyone

looks all fine around the Isle stormwise.
a very rare season so far and the outlook on the remainder looks even more rare.
we are mid september only, can't believe it myself, but looking out to our East, even far out East, there is nothing to see and conditions go in case of Stormy formations to come or grow up very nice downhill.
i will wait an other week,
but my today's guess is that the 2013 season is over as far as it the Big Boys/Gals, the so named Cap Verde Hurricanes, concerns. we should not get anything else out of the far East.
for the remaining time of the season we can concentrate on the quick popping up and quick bothering around TD's and TS's which come up in the caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, or right over/by the Islands.
extremely bothered this season by those is the western caribbean Sea/Yucatan/Southern Gulf of Mexico, with the actually 3rd system up within a short time frame.
i don't think many people got sunburned over there this summer season.

after an other fantastic perfect beach weekend we are looking on an other fantastic perfect weather week ahead of us.
does not look like anything could come up the next days anywhere near our Paradise Island.
we continue with a perfectly boring Hurricane Season.

We would like to get some rain here in Bayahibe to freshen up and cool down the air. It's been very hot and humid (probably the same like PC) for a long time now. The shower we had couple days ago didn't help much
