nearly 9 inches of rain fell in a six-hour period at the Canefield Airport near Roseau, Dominica.
a walk over the middle of PR would slow the forwardspeed significantly down, raining down for more hours.
continously watching the system is the name of the game now.
PR is already under the farest NW'ern bands.
wind on the DR eastshores should start to rise constantly.

Mike

Just saw the updated projections. Make a lot more sense now than at 8am. Still waiting for that NW turn they keep saying will happen...

NE'ern PR got the first 30 minutes strong raincell already.
the farest NW'ern outer bands are hanging right in front of the DR Eastshores now,
closing in, the first sprinkling should not take long to set in, from there on we will get it at least on and off for a longer while.
those tracking lines will have to adjust again soon,
as Erika is not moving a thing to the NW,
the storm moves 280Degrees heading westward Hoo,
singing PC here i come and bring ya some water.
it will come very close or even right over our heads, this time we will get our share of rain with a bit of a breeze involved, lol.
the storm did not strengthen anything since this morning and for the next 48hrs most likely no strengthening will happen, the opposite, to be close to PR and the Hispa?ola will have a harsh weekening effect in case of windpowers.
i already decided that tomorrow is no school day for the babygirl, i will be at the Marina early to take care about the swimming Babies there.

as you see here
it is just the far away from the center outer bands, tiny bands with lil water.
it is hit and miss for isolated areas to get water out of the outer side.
in cabeza de toro we get it at this very moment.
fill your fridges with sufficient beers and wine and in case you depend on electricity for water of the showers and toiletts, like i do, fill some stuff with water before the electricty gets shut down, once the center comes close and maybe brings some thunder.
here they usually shut the power down voluntarily once the lightnings show starts.
lamps running on Gas or Trementina are the way to go to have it ready.

According to this, the storm isn't even going straight west, its actually turning a little bit to the south!! Thats strange.

same here.
lasted less time than i needed to write about it, lol.
it is the farest tiny bands, the far NW of the storm does contain very little, almost no water.
Natu,
the storm did not move South,
but it replaced twice, ones last night and once this morning, it's Center.
it moved the center southwards, closer to the strongest thunderstorm areas(which ar not that strong nor organized at all),
as the tracking maps show the prior `path of the Center, it seems the storm moved south, but it didn't.
the storm as a overall circle moves almost straight westward since many long hours now,
waterloads get less and less,
central pressure at the actual shown center local tuns high 1006mb.
the small islands been a tough encounter, let's see who will have the pleasure to kick da biach in da azz, PR or DR.
it will not survive the next 72hrs, more likely well less.
looks like we need the sunblocker again for the rest of the afternoon.
come on, Erika, bring it a bit closer, Baby, a lil bit.

time for some shopping now, so san juan plaza it will be now,
of course with a pit stop at the drunken chicken on the way home.

as for your mentioning of st dgo,
that's around 90nmls west of Cabo Enga?o,
so what ever arrives maybe at some time Here,
and IF it moves straight west on 14knots forward speed,
it would 6 1/2 hours to arrive There in La Capital

From the Canadian Embassy - Yellow Alert issued for parts of the North Coast

The Dominican Republic emergency operations centre (see bold link below) has issued a yellow and green alert for parts of the DR. Because the text on that web page cannot be easily cut and pasted into a translation site, I'm still working on understanding the instructions pertaining to the yellow alert but I'll get through it eventually. In the meantime, maybe this info is of interest to some who did not receive their own email copy.

Dear Canadians,

You are receiving this email because you are registered with the Government of Canada's Registration of Canadians Abroad Service. Please share the following information with all the Canadian citizens that you know and encourage them to register online at http://travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration in order to get the latest up to date information from our office. Please note that the information provided by the registrant is confidential and will only be used in case of emergency.

The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association) has now upgraded Tropical Depression Erika to a Tropical Storm. Its trajectory indicates that it may strike the Dominican Republic, a Storm Warning has been issued by the Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias. Further information can be found in the link http://coe.gob.do/index.php/alertas (in Spanish).

Once more, we would like to encourage you and your family to review your personal safety practices. By taking sensible measures before, during and after a storm, many lives can be saved and property damage averted. Make sure you have revised your emergency plan, as well as re-stocked your emergency kit.

Keep informed by listening to the latest warnings and advisories on radio, television or web sites. Hurricane Centers will issue and update these when necessary. It is also important to follow the advice of local authorities and emergency response personnel.

We would encourage you to visit the following web sites where further information is available, on hurricanes specifically and emergency preparedness in general: www.travel.gc.ca, www.nhc.noaa.gov and http://www.getprepared.gc.ca.

Additionally, the Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia (COE) acts as a centralized base of operations in response to emergency events in the Dominican Republic. Not sure if its that the storm can steer northwest at any moment or maybe that the models are simply ****ing up, but the storm does nothing but move west, which is what i always thought was gonna happen, however, for some reason, models still indicate that the storm will move north... I think theres a posibility we get some action just like dominica and martinica and guadalupe did.
