I am not American so I know nothing about the "dreamers", except that I have heard that such a class of people exist. I don't know why this American issue is being brought up here.

Dreamers are those brought to the USA as babies/children, usually by their parents. Many think because they didn’t make the decision to come that they should have some special status. Compare them to Haitian babies/kids brought or born here in DR who know no other life/country.

If they are illegal, all the above is irrelevent. I hope they can actually deport 500,000 that remian in Haiti.
I realize that won't actually happen.
No it is not irrelevant - I would seriously rather live next door to a Hatian Family than Dominican. They are quiet at night, they tend to drink less and I have not seen them doing drugs or driving drunk.
Sure there are some that do - but Dominicans are more likely to cause you grief than Haitians.
Winde - you are stuck (to the point of silliness) on this whole illegal thing. You will not get them all out - so get out the ones who break local laws - be it traffic or crime. Campaign on illegal Canadians or French - plenty of them here too
Getting out just Haitians who commit crime or violate traffic laws once here, will take the government 10 years alone

Have a heart, man. I know a young woman, born in the DR, and her infant child, who were deported and have suffered the fate above, living on the street there. I sent a little money for a while to help them survive, but since then they have disappeared. Whether they are alive or dead I have no idea. They have done nothing to deserve this fate.
I think he has no heart, because he hasn't gotten to know any Haitians

Trust me, I fully realize the "silliness" of the illegal thing I am stuck on. But it is MY and only MY thing. For all illegals. I have always realized this. At one time I had hope the government would treat all illegals the same, but I have lost hope on that The government just focuses on Haitians and could really care less about the rest....

As for the Haitians the DR will do its best to deport them, and for the most part fail. That is the most likely scenario in Project Boomerang.

It has zero to do with how many Haitians I know. It has 100% to do with them being illegal. PERIOD. Nothing else comes into play.
I feel the same about all illegals, but the government focuses on Haitians, so take that up with them.

I have no issue with anyone who is law abiding and has the proper visa/residency to be here.

As usual it's all about propaganda when it comes to immigrants, but in reality they should think practically , dealing with this require resources, money, man power, effort and focus, of course all lacking with DR government. So that's why they should put all of that on securing borders and stop incoming, then if and when done that they can deal with those already here, who come back after a week - due to useless borders (BTW, it's just 10k pesos to come back, not 25k...!!!).

But there is little gain politically to say we stop so many unknown nunber entering, but a lot of propaganda with throwing numbers like 500,000.... , that they never achieve...! 🤔

Great point. Illegal immigration and uncontrolled asylum/refugee migrations cause problems. The DR government's obligation is to Dominican citizens first and legal residents possibly second (applies to any country). They simply cannot provide all the required public services to everyone as those will break down and even developed nations struggle with this. There are also issues with importing problems from other places along with people who migrate.

Also when immigrants reach a certain percentage of the country's population, they will use the numbers to gather political clout and use it - take a look at 'multicultural' UK and the ongoing controversies (much before Musk's attempts) and the state of the NHS, not to mention the quality of policing and public services.

May be the DR government does not want to issue visas or are simply incompetent in creating a working visa system for Haitians but that should not mean everyone who is illegal is given a free pass. What I hope is that the DR government achieves a viable level of border control and then kicks off the work visa system for Haitians (and other legal immigrants)

How many legal immigrants have you sponsored to your home country?
I have sponsored six.

This is about illegal aliens with no rights and no reasons to be allowed to remain.

I have been helping Haitian and Ugandans since 1999. I'll see your 6 and raise you about 200.

So you have legally sponsored hundreds of them by signing your name on government sponsorship documents and putting your financial support behind them to be legal?

Great! Otherwise we are talking about apples and oranges. I stand fast that illegals should be deported. Nothing less.
I could care less what limited support you likely provided, it has zero to do with this topic.

It isn't important that I could care less, it is the Dominican people and the Dominican government that could care less. I am just one vote.
I am not sure how people don't see that. I just happen to agree with the DR government 100% on this.

Ah, you missed my point. It is not the DR's problem that Haitians living here won't survive in Haiti because they were born here , only speak Spanish, that the progressive leftists in the world want the DR to let them stay, etc...

As for Haitians being more honest than Dominicans, that has zero to do with who gets deported and does not come into play.

The article should state that the only people the DR is concerned with deporting are illegal Haitians.
The amount of non-Haitian illegal aliens deported is miniscule.
That wasn’t my point.. construction will go to standstill general labour market in construction is already in trouble :cautious:
