Banco Deportivas
It certainly won't be quiet, but it's the best bet to get your fix. You'll likely get the US feeds - so they'll be in English - but it won't do you any good.
The banging of dominoes, the clanging of grandes and the endless arguing and banter of bettors will leave you to watching only.
It's quite a party atmosphere, I loved it. You can also practice bad spanish for free!
I was always treated very well, and never shunned in conversation - there really isn't anything funnier (apparently) than me debating baseball in Spanglish. They'd always ask what I was betting, because I was leaving with money - post grandes!! (Simple hint: always bet against Pedro - they jack up his lines to absurd levels b/c the locals always bet on him, it's like free money).
It's also where I learned to properly say "diablo co?o" and do the Dominican hand-wash motion - one of my favorite take-aways.
On Independencia, above the former stabbin' cabin' of Scandall's, there's a banca with an extensive (illegal) cable feed, reserve power and plenty of TV's. Cheap beer too.
I didn't get to live in the high-fallutin' neighborhood you now live in, but I'm sure a sports banca can't be far away.
Other than that, Al Gore's new invention - MLBTV.com - is the other good alternative. I'm fortunate enough to get it the Dominican way - free - but I'm sure whatever the price is, you'll love it.
You can get either the home or away broadcast (the announcers) and the radio feed as well. I put it full-screen on the monitor and it's not bad at all.
You will only run into blackouts when it's a Fox Sat/Sun broadcast, plus a few others, but those are the days you'll be able to go to the Jaragua, or if 5-star is still around - to the west of the Jaragua - you'll likely get it there.
