I heard they are renovating the disco in the Casino Playa Chikita, they are planning to re-open that under the management of, guess who, "El Chamo", that is Willy the one who didn't make it as the mayor....

A bit too far if you ask me, need to set up a shuttle service, if motoconchos let that sort of things to go on here. But I welcome any opening and re-opening and frown upon all closings.

While we are on the subject, vote how much effect closing of Rumba, Las Flores, Rancho Tipico and corner Cigar bar had on the kind of "chica + monger game" in this town - please only those who visit frequently or live here vote, 0 for no effect, 10 for eradicated, here is mine "Zero"... !

And as the conspiracy theorist always have it, as usual and in general, mainly foreign owners were/are penalized.

Well, the owners and the workers of those establishments, their dependent and of course their customers and many more people who care about Sosua one way or another, not you apparently, why are you on this freaking thread anyway... ! (it's a thread about business closures in Sosua in case you missed it...).

Willie is busy these days. He has re-started the remodeling of his "D'Latin Drink Disco", soon to be a restaurant.. The work on the disco inside the Playa Chiquita casino is just about finished, and "according to Willie" he has all the "permisos" to open. However, some of "El Chamos's" assertions have to be taken with a grain of salt, as was evident in his constant assurances after the government closing of his "D'Latin Drink Disco" that it would re-open in "two-weeks", which he repeated "ad nauseum", for over a year, until even he realized the foolishness of continuing with that "promise".

Regarding the location for the disco inside the Playa Chiquita casino. Years ago, the old disco inside that casino was "THE LATE NIGHT SPOT", long before the "After One Disco" next to Sos?a Bay Casino. They were packed every night. Willie is investing a lot of time and money there, so when it actually does open, he should have no problem attracting a large crowd. The motoconchos will be EXTREMELY HAPPY. The distant location prohibits most people from walking there from the center of town, Pedro Clisante, and any shuttle service will certainly be tolerated.

As far as the "vote". . .

This might not be the thread or even the forum, "chica + monger game" = different message board, but that is up to the moderators, who, by the way, are doing a fantastic job "moderating" this thread, KUDOS!!!

This might go way off topic, I abstain.

I heard the same thing about willy opening a disco at the casino from a very credible
source.*

The only way any "Late Night Club" works is if there are single people to go......the current drive is to eliminate singles.

Totally agree. Everybody knows the best way to make money in disco is to attract women. Men and their money will follow

Im sorry but Sosua has always been the exact opposite of that Formula..
Take any Venue... have a bunch of Gringos set up in there , to drink, watch sports, to enjoy the Scenery walking by, or with the intention of dancing to the music , does not matter which , the Chicas will follow right in, in numbers ... its a mathematical certainty.. and the exact opposite of what one would see like back home in the states with like a " Ladies night, and Free drinks for the ladies" and all those type of promotions to attract the Ladies...
In Sosua, the single Men ARE the attraction..
. and noone is giving anything away for Free in Sosua, definitely not Drinks... lol
Once a place is Packed and has the Reputation of being " The Spot" , sure it APPEARS that the women were there first , but that is not the case .
There is not a single place( disco type spot) where you see Girls just sitting around in Numbers or dancing with each other , paying their own drinks, and just waiting for the guys to show up.. not in Sosua.
but maybe the Powers that be want to Change all that.. we shall see.

Look..here's the deal. I could give a rats ass about any business suffering from the lack of the hoe monger trade.
If you base your business plan on that trade you're an idiot.

At the end of the day I wouldn't mind walking down Pedro Clisante, going to a restaurant without bumping into mongers and hoes. I'm disgusted.

I am always fascinated when I see comments like this ... just curious , out of all the places on the island, why you chose SOSUA as your place to vacation ,or more interesting yet, RETIRE as an Expat ?

just curious . not debating your opinion one bit.

Most tourist towns in the Caribbean have mongers and hoes....travelling must be tough for you.

The Protected from winds Beach is one of the Best . when I first discovered Sosua in like 2006 , after Years of visiting just the Capital & BC.. I did not even know there was a NIGHTLIFE in Sosua.. can you believe that ...had NO Clue that Sosua was a big Night spot for lets say " singles" .. ALL I knew was the Beach and then back to the AI in Puerto Plata , where the Beach was less than stellar.

Hey look I'm not a bible thumper. The closing of passions, etc was a bad move, the trade was contained and didn't need to end up down town.
I've only lived here seven years. Before that ten years six months at a time.

Come on, the trade was epic back then, it pales in comparison right now.

Well the way I see it Sosua is changing into ....hate to say it a retirement community. All business will be service oriented. It's happening.

it is a simple matter of biosphere. the US and Europe simply do not have enough to provide for the current needs of the population, so their citizens will have to establish offshore colonies in places like the carbbean. colonization, 21st century style.
