Whatever the gov't did, it seems to have worked.... we're all better off because of their actions- Face it !!
Yes the Dominican Government was on the money from day one. Now all the same people that complained LONG AND LOUD about how restrictive and horrible the Government was handling this are now RAVING about how great the Dominican Government is and the freedoms we have. Too bad they had no idea before now. LOL...........

Some folks are probably going to feel naked without their mask...the true believers...before it was fear now it's shame...lol...
Interestingly I went into to Superpola yesterday without my mask. Most of the shoppers looked at me as if I had an extra head! All of the employees were also wearing theirs. Perhaps the management have alluded that some sort of corporate obedience will be required for the time being.

People have become used to the "norm'. I myself feel refreshed going about my business without my mask.

Good insight Sky! Your totally right. They were on the money. It wasn’t about protecting the health of Dominicans. It was about keeping the resorts open with tourists who had money to spend. Tourists from most of the world were allowed in without any health checks on arrival.

They were allowed to party hearty at the resorts while DR citizens were arbitrarily thrown in jail with infected citizens for not wearing a mask.

All DR citizens and expats were subject to a long term curfew. Another name for martial law or total lockdown. Tourists were free to roam the resorts, party without masks, and didn’t have to cope with the curfew. The DR government approach would not be allowed in many countries.

It’s early days yet. No country has a definite handle on the impact of the elimination of Covid restrictions and mandates. I wouldn’t pop the champagne cork yet.

Windy is right even if some posters take exception to what he says. Covid is here to stay and many more people will die. Variants will keep coming because pockets of the population in countries worldwide will never be vaccinated. Micro breeding grounds for new variants.

Regardless of what happens, I will wear N-95 NISOH approved masks while flying. They’ve been proven to have a better degree of effectiveness against the contraction and spread of Covid. Not 100% but much more effective than the other masks.

By mid March when most of the world has opened up, the onus will be in the individual to do what they think is necessary to live their daily lives. Freedom of choice, long overdue, should be exercised carefully.

Absolutely right…Only about the cheap cheap very cheap A1 hotels that this country is known for. Tourism and the rest of you? Doesn’t matter how you fare. Now all the people need to “take off their blinders” and go back to the “great dominican government” and take note how wonderfully And fairly everyone is treated. Sky..just a pimp for tourism..but we all do know that. DR without those very cheap cheap A1s will never make it as as things stand. Too many other equally beautiful islands. Ambinder just put in his chips first now.

Cabarete
I've never seen word spread so fast! Went through Cabarete early this afternoon and masks were nowhere to be seen. Went to BM Cargo, Super Pola, and Playero and no one was wearing a mask. No temperature checks or alcohol spray either.
I'm surprised that you say nobody was wearing a mask in Playero, Sosua yesterday. I just came back from there and would say about half the people were wearing one.

Well, there were a few - not many though. The employees were wearing masks. Haven't been to Janet's yet.

We had to go to La Vega this morning. My MiL was in two government offices without weating a mask. My wife and I went into a large stationary store. Most of the employees were wearing masks, no customers were. Walked by the palacio de justo, about 50 50 on masks.

I was in the center of town earlier here in Santiago and I would say about half the people i saw were wearing mask which i have zero problem with.

Freedom of choice should always be respected. Now if only the opposition felt the same way we would have had more discourse with less arguing from day one.

I would also like to add...
I am enjoying watching CNN implode from within.

Went into EdeNorte maskless. Guard was maskless, everyone else with masks everyone else including 3 of 4 other customers with masks.
It will take a couple weeks. But believe me the majority won't be buying new masks.

I recommend all of you hoard/ stock pile as many mask as possible.
Government's around the world have realized how effective fear mongering
can be to control their citizens. Will another virus be released in the future?
Wouldn't surprise me at all.
