Aluminum Welder

Anyone know of an Aluminum welder on the north coast (near Cabarete ideally)? Have a couple tricky parts I need to get repaired. There used to be someone in Tehatek who could do it, but I'm told he's no longer there.

I am not surprised. AL (vs FE)welders are a rare breed. Almost anyone who ever bought a 2,000 pesos welding transformer thinks they can weld with it. And that puts them in the FE welder camp of "Yeah, I cand do that"...

AL is not easy to weld, or to make it look like you know how, very few have the skill:

No, I don't, but everybody knows where he is. Just start going up that street to Los Castillos and start asking. That's what I did. I had no idea exactly where he was. Just say: "Estoy biscando el mecánico Alemán"(or gringo). It's not far off the highway.

I just looked on Google Maps. Taller Klaus looks to be in the right place. The number is; 809-543-0117. You could also try Mello, a mechanic in Cabarete. He doesn't weld aluminium, but I think he knows a place in Sabaneta that does(?) 809-222-5694(Whats App).

The German in Los Castillos died a couple of years ago. There is another German in La Mulatta who does aluminum. Go up to the first intersection, where New Life church is, and turn left. About a block in, the street curves to the right and the German's gate is on the right. Gate is usually part way open. It is a home and workshop. Good luck!

I would trust any German doing any type of job including welding aluminum Germans take a lot of pride in their work
