Mike, I agree with you 100% also that plane over Pennsylvania seems to have been shot down (9/11).

And most foreign carriers. Looks like both Airbus and Boeing really have problems in the Far East...

Re: Airbus 300 / Message AZB

Hi AZB,

you forgot to mention that yr brother must be an aviation engineer with BOEING and therefore you are not familar with one of the safest aircrafts of Airbus Industries AB 300.
This is not the situation to start unfair competition like your message.

Re: Airbus 300

A 2 engine aircraft (like A300) can land safely on one engine alone in most favorable circumstances. However, in this case, the aircraft was full of fuel weight and the capacity was close to the max; not to mention Dominicans load up on the luggage when they are heading home. The possible reason the plane didn't make it back to the airport is because it was taking off and that is when it needs all the power it can get to rise up in the sky (full throttle). When the engine failed, the plane just didn't have enough altitude or the power to stabilize the plane in air. It reached its stall speed quickly and nose-dived to the ground before it had the chance to level off again.

AZB,
Don't know where you got your info on 9/11 pittsburgh plane but I have seen no credible evidence of it being a shoot down. But, lets not start a string on this. if you do have something please contact me by email.

Re: Airbus 300 / Message AZB

Doubt AZB trying to be a front man for Boeing. There have been a large number of AB crashes and the same is true of Boeing and the old Douglas (DC-10). The aircraft are all as safe as the individual companies' safety and maintenance programs. Also unforseen problems such as bird strikes (remember, it was about an 8 pound bird that brought down a B-1 in Colorado years ago. And that wasn't even a strike to an engine but where the wing and fuselage met.) Let's not get a string of attacks going. This is a tragedy, no matter what kind of plane.

Re: Airbus 300 / Message AZB

Hi, Wollen
Sorry to offend you but I see that you are German and airbus industries is also partly owned by Germans.
My brother does not work for Boeing, he works for a major airline industry in USA. He is also certified in Airbuses as he is on Boeings.
Ask any pilot (American or European) and they will tell you that they prefer to fly Boeings rather than any airbus aircrafts. You get more feel of a Boeing when you have your hands on the yoke, airbuses are like flying toy planes because they are totally computerized and fly-by-wire technology. You don't feel in touch with the aircraft. The plane has 7 onboard computers which process every command that the pilot puts in with controls. Imagine any one of the computers going hay-wire? that?s what happened in the Paris air show, when the computer of the A300 took over the controls of the plane and thought that the plane was landing. In actuality, the pilot was struggling to raise the plane but it kept going down and landed perfectly, except on trees. Air India had a similar accident when the computer took over the controls of the aircraft and crashed the plane.
i am sure those problems were fixed later on but that doesn't mean the plane is safe 100% to fly.
But don't feel bad, I am also a fan of A320's (the only joy stick controlled commercial airline plane).

It might be that it is hard to fly with part of a wing missing!

Sir, with all due respect...

>>>not to mention Dominicans load up on the luggage when they are heading home<<<

DO NOT try to blame wholly or in part this on the Dominican passengers. I understand that you are a... what is that that you are? not a plane expert. People do not sneak in with their luggage in the plane. Do you remember that scale when you check in with your stuff? The airline knows how much they can load to keep the plane fully operational.

There is a lot of stuff that we don't know yet, but blaming the victims sounds very much like blaming the tennants on WTC for not carrying a parachute.

Re: Sir, with all due respect...

Oh, shrimp,
Pib, please don't twist my words. I am not blaming it on the poor victims. Its true that many Dominicans do load up on luggage when they come home. Dominicans are not the only ones who do that, Pakistanis and indians follow the same customs.
The plane didn't come down because it was over loaded. I am just imagining the most probable cause. If the plane lost an engine, most likely the hydraulics were also damaged; especially at take off speed (full throttle), low altitude etc.... see my point? Then if you have almost full capacity and a loaded up plane (luggage, passenger, fuel etc), it would not help the situation. In any case, that plane would have gone down even if it were empty, just not enough altitude and power. Now I am hearing that part of the wing came off. Forget it, it didn't have a chance.
By the way PIB, I am also an electrical engineer and I have studied structural engineering courses along with strength of material (statics & dynamics, strength of material and etc) and did some research in feedback systems of an aircraft avionic systems. These things may sound quite arcane to your mind but I do know (a bit) of what I am talking about. Just guy stuff.
Have a nice day.
(P.S. I am the # 1 public defender of the Dominicans in DR1 message board).

Desbaratas con las pies lo que haces con las manos

I accept your explanation. Good to know that you did not try to blame it on the victims. But then again you managed to piss me off. Now you try to patronize me >>I do know (a bit) of what I am talking about. Just guy stuff<< I am not plane expert but I am smart, smart enough to know what it means when men say "guy's stuff". Make up and shoes are not my only concern in life.

Let's keep it here. I have better things to do today.

Have a nice day.

Hahahaha, PIB
you are funny. I tell you this, you maybe one of the smartest girls that I know in DR.
Even if I am trying to piss you off, i certainly don't mean to disrespect you in anyway. I happen to like you as a person.
I love Dominican republic (my home)and I am not going anywhere.

The fact is that all the eye witnesses

saw the wing come off, so there was never any hope of landing or even straightening out that aircraft for a forced landing.
The engine blew according to some witnesses, which tore up the hydraulics, which left the pilot with nothing to do.

To let everyone know,AZB is our resident "expert,Know-It-All" he goes on and on about virtually every subject that appears on the board! He has a "friend" or family member working in any and all areas you can think of.Pay him no mind! His comment about the "Dominicans overloading the plane with luggage shows that he is both "stupid" and "racist". tommy

Mr. Thomas Roberts,
What seems to be your problem? You seem to be insulting everyone on this board who takes time out to put forward some valuable info. Let me guess, are you married to MarySue?
Did my simple aviation talk caused you constipation? Did your hooker girlfriend run off (again) with your wallet while you were chewing up on your viagra?
I am all confused.
What have I done to upset you? You take a portion of my poor choice of words (pasted above) and discredit me of everything that I had said about the crash incident and on top of that you call me "raicst" and "stupid".
I am sorry, if my simple aviation talk went way above your square meal/ mash potato eating white bread mind. Loosen up and live the life. Read and learn.
Have a nice day.
