This thread has become a Groundhog Day fiasco. I will reopen when there are updates.
Dorsainvil… Isn’t that one of the well known last names of Haiti or maybe I’m confusing that for another last name? They have been released. Thread reopened, please stay on topic.

American woman, child freed after being kidnapped in Haiti last month
Alix Dorsainvil was kidnapped from the ministry where she worked.abcnews.go.com
A U.S. nurse who was released by Haitian kidnappers last week revealed that a Christian song called "See a Victory" was her rallying cry after she and her young daughter were abducted from a school campus.
Alix Dorsainvil and her daughter were freed Wednesday healthy and unharmed, according to El Roi Haiti, the Christian aid organization founded by Dorsainvil's husband. Their release comes nearly two weeks after they were taken at gunpoint from the campus of a Christian-run school near Haiti's capital city of Port-au-Prince.
El Roi Haiti posted a statement from Dorsainvil on Saturday in which the New Hampshire woman expressed appreciation for the support for her and her child while they were missing.
"I am completely humbled by the outpouring of support and prayer for myself and my sweet baby both during and following our time in captivity," Dorsainvil said. "God was so very present in the fire with us and I pray that when I find the words to tell our story, that the mighty name of Jesus may be glorified and many people will come to know his love."
KIDNAPPING OF AMERICAN NURSE, HER DAUGHTER IN HAITI DEALS BLOW TO AID EFFORTS IN IMPOVERISHED NATION
Dorsainvil said that, after she was kidnapped, she recalled the song "See a Victory" by the North Carolina-based Elevation Worship music collective.
"There's a part that says, 'You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good,'" she said.
there are some people, that would just be ok....if this whole island becomes one country........................Your last line is a bit harsh but Haiti’s historical past supports what you say, more or less. No one wants a mass exodus of Haitian refugees rolling in on rafts on their shorelines. Its geographical location close to North America will eventually be the motivation for someone to do something at some point. Something along the lines of a long term military intervention, a UN appointed puppet government, and an injection of money to restore basic infrastructure to introduce some measure of peace and security. Nothing as grand or effective as the Marshall Plan to restore Europe after WW2. Something containing elements of that on a much smaller scale, tailored to meet Haitian requirements.
The Haitian problems will never be eliminated until there is a complete cultural change, something that will never happen. The best outside agencies can hope for is a reduction in the violence and some form of stable government to restore basic services.
One of the saving graces for Haiti might be enough peace and order to allow for resource exploration. If significant deposits of marketable resources are found, it could provide a revenue base for the acting government and further exploration. I doubt the rumours of massive oil deposits are true. If they were, they would have been developed decades ago. Other than that, Haiti presently has very little to export to bring in foreign revenues.
The naysayers are wrong. Something will be done.
It would be an even bigger failure than the first time it happened, so you'd end up with the same problem on your shores, twice the size. You have any doubts? Just look what the French abolitionist Victor Schoelcher had to say about the experiment. Trust me, it wasn't nice at all.there are some people, that would just be ok....if this whole island becomes one country........................
Always been of the opinion that Uncle Sam will have to leave a permanent military occupation force on the island to contain the problem in situ (if it's coupled with a naval blockade it will be even better). Otherwise, the problem will just keep island hopping and metastasizing throughout the continent.Do you speak english ???? "windeguy" did not say one single negative word about Haiti or it's People. With me it's a totally diferent situation; I think Haiti is a lost cause and it should be walled in and the key should be handed over to God Neptune in the Ocean. Haiti will never be more than a Shithole regardless how many billions the world is throwing at them.
I agree with your point about the potential for the Haitian problems to expand beyond their borders. There are currently three festering problems in the Caribbean close to the US, Haiti, Cuba, and Venezuela. Haiti being the biggest problem for the DR because it‘s part of the same land mass. For the US to send in a long term occupation force to Haiti, there would have to be a very serious reason. Infiltration of terrorist cells into Haiti with the potential to threaten US security, a big movement of drugs from Haiti to the U.S, large numbers of Haitian refugees attempting to enter the US illegally are just a few possibility’s.Always been of the opinion that Uncle Sam will have to leave a permanent military occupation force on the island to contain the problem in situ (if it's coupled with a naval blockade it will be even better). Otherwise, the problem will just keep island hopping and metastasizing throughout the continent.
Of all the Americans that have been kidnapped in Haiti, not one appears to be a minority. Why is that?Wonder who the next victim will be. A nun, maybe a teacher or a hippie back packer.
Its not Racisst to say it . I think someone already did .Of all the Americans that have been kidnapped in Haiti, not one appears to be a minority. Why is that?
It's not just whites, they feel the same way about American blacks. They probably would feel the same about American Asians or Hispanics if they ever met any.Its not Racisst to say it . I think someone already did .
Haitians believe all WHITES are RICH .. .Period .
In the beginning the kidnappers literally asked for a " million dollars"..
as if her people/ Family are walking around with that kind of money in their pockets .
Maybe these Criminals are of the mindset that anyone who does not need to WORK for a Living, and is doing Charity work of any kind, must be Rich to give of their time so Freely..It's not just whites, they feel the same way about American blacks. They probably would feel the same about American Asians or Hispanics if they ever met any.
No, that's not it. It's more than the gangs, it's a Haitian mindset that is exacerbated by Americans actions of throwing money around.Maybe these Criminals are of the mindset that anyone who does not need to WORK for a Living, and is doing Charity work of any kind, must be Rich to give of their time so Freely..
Haiti is such a Sad sad place .
