Try the Bacalao (salt cod) in fish cakes. Cod, mashed potatoes, onion, and summer savoury. Roll into cakes, coat with a panko crust, cook lightly on both sides. Serve with homemade baked beans and sweet mustard pickles.

Thanks Webster and you and a la playa. I hope not unpitted, that takes away a lot.
I bring them with me next time, here 3€ for a 450 gram jar.
Same with mackarel hard to find in Jeanettes. Salmón en lata for a spaghetti. Same with dry sherry, beef…

Bacalao, dried salt cod fish, has been exported from my area to many Caribbean islands for decades. Our fishing schooners would head down with salt fish and return with rum and molasses. I’ve also seen it in stores in the Greek Islands and Portugal. I wouldn’t eat anything with a Chinese label. We ship the raw product to China but how they process it and what quality controls they have in place is anybody’s guess.

Btw. The oldest sporting event in North America is being held today in our capitol city. The Royal St. John’s Regatta. 204 years old.

Clearly you need some sort of topping or salsa on all that dry stuff. Sounds good

I had bacalao from a cafeteria last week (take out). Kinda like plata de dia. Came in a red sauce shedded, peppers onions. Foam tray the size you get in Chinese take out. I had with a side of macaroni salad...mayo etc. $4.00. Could barely finish but worked hard to finish the taskLOL

We when on a Scandinavian Cruise, and for supper my wife ordered cod. She got fresh cod and didn't like it at all, and she loves bacalao. I love smoke Alaskan black cod but bacalao is far too salty for me.

I love fresh cod but can understand, based on my Dominican wife's taste...they seem to want a lot of flavor. Cod doen't work for them,.
