Right now I am just starting a chapter in Santo Domingo. I want to get this one going first, however, there are always possibilities of starting other chapters here in the DR. So for now we will be meeting here in the capital.

The way my groups work out we become one big happy family! Unlike other networking groups we had cocktail parties, golf outings, family picnics, and dinners. You won't be doing public speaking......you will be talking among friends! The closer we got, the more business we referred to one another. Time wise, you are talking about committing 1.5 hours a week for a weekly meeting, but getting lots more out of it than you would if you were at work!

Think about it!

Hello everyone my name is Chris Thomas and i will be relocating to this beauitful island paradise soon. I am getting married on saturday 2/18/06 to a wonderful island lady whom i dearly love. i have recently been laid off as a certified teacher here in the state of Michigan, city of Detroit. and although i was feeling down because of the job loss your forum and DR1 has lifted me up. I have begun sending in my resume to several of the private schools and will be looking forward to join your networking group in the capital city of Santo Domingo. I have a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and an Associates Degree in Marketing. i am an advent believer in the powers of networking and hope to add a positive point to the group. First meeting!

Well, the first meeting had a disappointing turn out. People that said they wanted to join and said they were coming, did not show up!

Can't say I wasn't disappointed with the turnout, :surprised BUT...........

We are now three very enthusiastic members with a very positive outlook for the future! Although there were only three of us here, we still managed to pass four leads among us! Not bad for a first meeting!

I realize this is a new concept here in the DR, but the power of referrals is mind boggling!

The next meeting of the Dominican Business Network will be held next Thursday, 23 at 7:00 a.m. Unless other wise noted, same location:

There are plenty of you out there that are wondering, will this work in the DR? How many members do they have so far? Is it for real?

Well, I will report to you. No we are not growing fast! But the members that are joining see the future, have made the commitment, made it to the meetings, and best of all, gotten referrals! Isn't that the purpose? yes, we have a good nucleus and funny things is, last Thursday I recieved four phone calls from people apologizing becuase they missed the meeting! And best of all, one of the members that missed the meeting, still called to give another member a referral during the meeting!! That's networking!! :cheeky:

I have also recieved emails from people in Puerto Plata, Sosua, and Punta Cana about starting groups there. aranoid:
