Arajet flying to the USA is dependent on the inactment of the
Cielos Abiertos (Open Skies) agreement which would allow any Dominican airline to fly to any international airport in the USA instead to only a few along the east coast. Until now it has been ratified, but now a new twist against it.
In today's
Listín Diario there is a full page ad of what is the stance of
Asociación Dominicana de Líneas Aéreas (ADLA) which represents airlines with mostly Dominican capital and/or legally considered Dominican. The motive for the rejection is because they think this could spell the end for most Dominican airlines as supposedly they will have less Dominican government support.
