Flights to El Salvador tend to have a majority of Salvadoreans, usually returning to El Salvador after vacationing in SD/Punta Cana.

The real issue were the flights to Guatemala, but that was fixed by Guatemala imposing visa requirements to Dominicans or any Dominican with no visa to Guatemala but with visa to the US. That’s used in lieu of a visa to Guatemala to enter Guatemala.

They just got 10th plane today. Arajet says their goal is to get 20 planes by 2025 I believe. They want to start Miami and JFK route by end of the year. We shall see

They also acept Mexican visa, Canadian Visa and Schengen visa in Dominican passports. At least the process for the visa its not complicated and can be done by email. I was lucky visitted Guatemala before the visa issues went to El Salvador by bus and returning to Guatemala had little delay after stamped our passport the police stopped the bus told all dominicans get off the bus, checked our passports and called Inmigration Supervisor, when the supervisor and when he arrived get mad at them telling if they didnt see that our passports had the stamps letting us to enter again Guatemala, they he gave us back our passports and said can go.

ARAJET offered them to build a new terminal and they said no, they will built it. Whatever, it’s their airport and not ARAJET’s, but there is an air of stupidity in all of this. If an airline is saying it wants to build a new terminal and they have the money for that (with the amount of money backing ARAJET, the new terminal they planned to built at the very least would had been spectacular), let thrm built it. Just pin point where and offer to remove whatever (a hangar, etc) for their new terminal. Plus ask approval of them building a new terminal would be that a % of the gates must be devoted to non-ARAJET airlines, a new taller control tower and a new runway parallel to the current one.

But, this is too much common sense. So it is what it is. Dominican tax payers are now footing the bill foe the new terminal (that likely will be smaller and less spectacular thwn the one ARAJET was planning to build.) The exception is if ARAJET is allowed to chip in money for the new terminal as well, it could be the new AERODOM terminal + the original terminal ARAJET was going to build. That would be a heck of a terminal.
That would be impossible to do it as Aerodom has an agreement with the Dominican goverment and Vinci airports will to make a lot discounts to Arajet if they build their own terminal. Fortunately the new agreement with the goverment its better than the one before, also they have an agreement with Arajet that stated Aerodom must provide all the space need it for Arajet to grow. By the end of this year must be finished all the adecuations they have in process to give better experience to passengers, and indeed they will a new terminal wich its also stated in the new agreement with the goverment that must be started begining 2025 and finished in 2028 before the airport facilites collapse.

I have been a Star Alliance member since my first job out of college when they sent me to Frankfurt. United has really stepped up its game since the last time I flew up to March when I returned to the US. The rewards and benefits are excellent. Singapore and Lufthansa are some of my favorites. I have flown a budget deal one time in my life - it was SosuaBlue and we had to make an emergency landing at Dulles en route to SDQ because 3 exemplary Dominican utes were grabbing the flight attendant’s private parts. That was the one and only budget flight of my life. Good luck Arajet!

I have flewn 5 times with Arajet and no complain. The main problem I can see with people are they are not used to the term ULC and they book a trip and are expecting same rules as if they were traveling with Copa, or other airlines that you can buy at airport the services you need at regular price. Rules in ULC are totally diferent and I have seem a lot people complaining having issues with pricing at the airport buying suitcase service at the airport and they have all written in their webpage about prices, when is better and cheapper to buy and how prices change when the travel date is closer. Some people complain about the airline only allow 44 pounds while other airlines allow you 50 but when you are booking the fare you select tell you how many pounds you are allow it and sizes for the fare selected, another guy said had bad experience because they didnt give him a cop of coffee for free as other airlines. If you have very clear in your mind how works Ultra Low Cost airlines you never have issues flying.

I never understood why folks fly with so much checked luggage. There always seems to be so many folks running around with a cart fully stacked and in some cases 2 carts! What's in all those bags??

We normally fly to DR with our carryons and personal bags only, because we ship so much down in tanks(and of course we leave our clothes in our house).

BUT sometimes United has reasonable first class, and that means 2 free suitcases each. So you’ll see us with the cart filled with 4 huge suitcases, 2 carry ons and 2 personal bags.

Interesting what this consultant of ARAJET says. Among the many things are:

- This isn’t something random or left to chance. Everything ARAJET has done, continue and will continue to do was planned before it started. They really are sticking to the marketing theories taught in universities and (not surprinsingly) they are getting results.

- The biggest obstacle was the perception regarding Dominican aviation. Failures of Dominicana de Aviación and many other Dominican airlines had discredited the country when it came to commercial aviation. ARAJET had to face that issue despite it wasn’t the one that create it.

- The purpose is of Dominicans to feel proud of the airline, for the airline to be known in Latin America (I guess he meant to say in The Americas given the USA is a keystone of its development even if Arajet will not fly to the USA until the open skies agreement is signed by both countries) and it’s important to the airline to exude Dominicanese (from the music, the offerings onboard, etc.)

In the speech given by Víctor Pacheco after airplane #10 arrived in SDQ, he says he mention last Héctor Porcella to recognize his hard work in helping the FAA keep Cat 1 for Dominican airplanes!

This is important because it could had change ARAJET’s plan as under any other category Dominican airplanes can’t fly to the USA.

Dont know if you read before one of my post where I said stay calm, the group of people telling that we are in Cat 2 are not expert, all those people are part of a group that are mad with the goverment and Arajet because they are not part of them.

Being mad for not being a part of the government, there is not much that can be done with that.

Being mad because they aren’t part of ARAJET is stupid when that airline has good prospects to grow. It will need more people to become a part of it at all levels. Going against it now is the perfect way to guarantee that you will definitely be left out. Not a smart move. ARAJET might have a secret list of people to never hire ever. lol

Good news for Arajet

A friend of mine flow a few days ago from SDG to YUL (Montreal). He told me that the plan was full. The plane was almost full when he Embarq in SDQ, it came from Guatemala and it was almost full from farm workers going to Canada for their work season.

Also I notice that they are also have flight from PUJ to SDQ to YUL (Montreal).

They are creating a hub here in SDQ and I think they will be successful and wait when they start to compete in the American market. Competition is good keeps the established from gouging.

Yes, they are stupid, those people are the one contacting reporters to tell that the IDAC was full of incompetent people that do not know how to do their job, and some other are pilots and posted a lot bad things about Dominican Aviation Authorities. The Arajet CEO said that to let hem to know they loose,

Reminds me of the saying “the biggest obstacle a Dominican will face often comes from another Dominican.”

I used to think that was just a saying… used to…
