Because the resort and the Dominican authorities have a vested interest in covering this up and discrediting the victim as it hurts their reputation and bottom line. Someone mentioned the price dropped after the story broke and we are discussing if it was due to the incident or normal season.
I suggest reading a thread before commenting.
You assume this is somehow the fault of the resort and their actions are CYA.

The resort also has the right to defend itself from slander.

Her derelict slob husband would have probably settled for a months supply of hooters chicken wings, a subscription to Hustler and a weeks worth of Budweiser. Nothing screams I need a settlement more than a chub that is 40 pounds overweight, has a mullet haircut , a 1980s unkempt mustache- goatee and has a set of maxillary central incisors that look like a drywall man put them in.

And a new statement by the head of the DNI also stating she did not want to file a complaint.

https://www.arecoa.com/destinos/201...urista-agredida-ha-manipulado-intencion-dano/

The last sentence in this article states “También se dice que la afectada le pedía al hotel 200 mil dólares para no poner la denuncia y le dijeron que no, que era preferible investigar”, manifestó.

Which is for the non-Spanish speakers. In addition it is said that the lady in questions asked the hotel for US$200,000 for her not to file a complaint, and they refused stating it was more preferable to carry out an investigation.

Matilda
Interesting.

Some would consider such a request, in the absence of any direct evidence of liability, as blackmail.

If it was proven that a hotel employee is the perp of this violent act, I can see how the resort might want to comply with the extortion.

hahaha, I said way back that this lady is just looking for a BIG payday. Just a bunch of baloney when she says she put this out there to try to help women. She didn't get her money so now all she wants to do is give damaging statements about the hotel. Whether true or not it doesn't matter to her.

Another poster said way back the husband would have settled for a pickup and a fishing boat. Maybe throw in a case of Bud and a bucket of KFC and all is good. Maybe trolling motor and fish finder to seal the deal.

Look at this way, The DR1 LapTop Detectives are the equivalent of a bunch of jamokes sitting around a 1960's Barber Shop giving their opinions and theories on the latest crime in Mayberry RFD. That's all.

Those that don't want to partake, get their haircut and leave.

[chuckle] My favorite post thus far. I do like a 48 Hours type mystery so I am enjoying this. Where's the motive, what is their financial situation... so many questions....

This is why I love Dominicans ... they have Pride .. and Heart ..
She tried for 200K.. they negotiated it down to ZERO, or should I say started at Zero, and stood their ground ..
there is a reason for that ..
and
Let the chips fall where they may ..

The only thing this woman did not anticipate is THIS much publicity ...
She expected to do some damage , but not this..

And now DANILO is personally involved , Punta Cana Tourism is at stake here .

The feces is about to hit the AC..

Detectives have a way of asking questions they already know the answers to, and getting you to LIE about things you dont even need to lie about, to cover up the big Lie , once they accomplish that , they know they like u , and they go deeper ..
Most people cant grasp it , even if they watch those cop shows where they interrogate people.

Problem is they will never interrogate this Husband or her .., since it happened on Dominican soil, someone correct me if i am wrong..
I believe what prev posters also said ,, the 4 month delay was all NEGOTIATIONS for Money , not a single attempt to catch the Perp, and finally the Hotel had enough and said "we not paying you a DIME".. and she blew up .. I don't even think she even Proof read that face book post , she just slammed it out and posted it , and once you post something like that you cant take it back . That is not a Post she worked on for 4 months .. for a professional person, she could have done a LOT better writing.

I was under the belief that once the US of A embassy was made aware of the situation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation would form a process of inquiry. Not necessarily as the leading investigators, but as a supplemental fact finding entity. I believe they have been used in the past in regards to murders of US of A citizens within RD, such as Brent Lewis, as well as missing persons, and the recent accidental deaths of the young couple who drove off the malecon.
(This posting has nothing to do with US of A politics, please do not deviate from the intent of the posting.)

The DR cops just told the press there are holes in her story.
All right , which one of you called them and explained the case?

I would like to agree with Matilda; to speculate on such matters without evidence and only here-say is to ignore the generally accepted morale thought of ''Innocent until proven guilty''... The two key words being ''innocent'' and ''proven''.

"Innocent until proven guilty", unless you are one of the employees within the resort with a poor resume, or some other hapless soul who happened to be in the "area" of the resort that evening. There was no "innocent until proven guilty" provided by the victim's statement towards those being accused.

In today's society, many are not aware of this factoid.

Two hundred large US...

Up until now my opinion was that all of this adds up to:

The hotel countered her "request" with this:

It makes me wonder how they came up with this nice round number. It seems to be a bit low. $200,000 in 2019 is spare change.

Whoever did the beating knew exactly where he was taking her as there wouldn't be a lot of time for kicking doors, possibly a disgruntled employee that was going to give a beating to the first woman that came by ?
