So we are having a family debate on whose steak is the best- Kansas City Steaks or Chicago Steaks?

I want to settle the argument by ordering both and doing taste tests.

Anyone here order steaks to be shipped here? I use EPS.

And of course your opinion regarding the best steaks can be added to our test results.

You'll have to have them sent directly to you via a courier, preferably DHL if they'll do it.

Something that takes a minimum of a week to deliver is not going to hack it.

So how do the restaurants do it? For example Seahorse Ranch restaurants have fresh oysters shipped in. I know that at least one restaurant in SD has Chicago Steaks shipped in.

So you are telling me if I pay for overnight delivery to Miami and they are packed in a cooler and ice packs (as they are even in the US) they will not arrive edible?

😢

Who in Miami is going to pack them in a cooler with ice packs?

None of the above companies ship to the DR, due to beef import/export restrictions.

Order a ribeye from restaurant Turo in S.D along with the sides to go. Excellent cut and you will miss the aggressive steak house ambiance.

Go to Nacional and get the Angus New York cut. They can cut it to order off the slab for you.
Small propina helps...........
I already do that.

Chicago steaks and Kansas City steaks both pack their meats in styrofoam coolers and with ice packs before shipping. At least that’s what they did many many years ago when I lived in the US.

Sounds like you all are telling me that this is a crazy idea……

Buy it from Mopax Import, they are in Santo Domingo but deliver island wide.

Always have my sirloin strip cut in 2 inch steaks and last week made 8 baby back ribs, fall off bone type.

Neither of those companies and including Omaha Steaks, ship to the DR.

Much/most of the good imported beef in the DR is from Argentina.

The words New York cut might suggest it is from the states, but it really is nothing more than the part of the cow where the beef is cut from.

Understood. Thanks. What I thought to do was make the meat shipped to my Miami EPS address with overnight delivery.

Found packing info from each of them….

So, okay. I understand you think this is an undoable, not worth it, idea.

…….I miss William Webster! He would love the idea and tell me how to do it!

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

It used to be possible to bring meat in one's suitcase. I keep kosher, and I used to do it all the time, as the varieties of kosher meat available in the US is greater than it is here. About a year ago, I was bringing in some chickens and some beef, and the chickens were confiscated at the POP airport, but I was allowed the beef. Then I heard of someone who brought in massive amounts for a holiday, and it was confiscated. The laws have changed, apparently, and it is no longer possible to do. A person in Puerto Plata engaged a family member to bring in meat at Rosh HaShanah and $1800 worth of kosher meat was confiscated at the airport. Anguish.

But unless you've got a commercial license to bring in meat, don't attempt it any more. It doesn't end well.

Shipping from those companies to Miami is certainly doable, it is the part from Miami to the DR that could be problematic. Many have tried, some successful…….some not. You take your chances.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Festivus, Kwanza etc., etc., etc.

Wow, I never heard this before! We’ve brought in frozen beef many times without issues, but it’s usually between Christmas and January 6 when the Dominican exemption is going on and no one checks anything in aduanas. Guess we’ve been lucky.
