Paris police have seized two Chinese women and a man on suspicion of using a powerful Colombian drug known as ?the devil?s breath? to turn people into ?zombies? devoid of free will and rob them.

The women, 42 and 59, allegedly approached strangers in the 20th arrondissement and blew a substance into their faces to put them into a ?hypnotic state.?

They took their victims home and asked them to hand over their jewellery and money. One Parisian lost ?100,000 (about $150,000) in valuables and cash in this way, police said.

The substance allegedly used by the gang is thought to contain scopolamine, a hazardous drug extracted from a South American tree related to deadly nightshade. The Soviets and the CIA reportedly used it as a truth serum during the Cold War. The drug?s chemical make-up induces powerful hallucinations and in strong doses it is lethal.

Disagree. I personally know people that have been drugged with Scopolamine in Colombia.
Ask any Colombian in Colombia and they will tell you all about it.

Why wouldn't it be in the DR?
i am with robert and also I would like to confirm this drug has reached DR. My girlfriend has seen this 1st hand, happening to a woman on the street of santiago. The guy tried to approach my GF first but she got afraid of him. as she was leaving bank she saw a man coming straight at her with very strange look on his face. he bumped into her and tried to stop her. she ran away and got inside a taxi parked there. The street was at a stand still because of traffic jam. she kept looking at the guy as he approached another woman and offered her some sample. My GF asked the taxi driver to stay and watch. the women talked to the guy for a bit then in a short time she started to hand him everything, her jewelry, cell phone and money etc. the guy took it all in broad day light. the taxi driver didn't get it at first but then he also realized something was up. so he yelled at the lady and started to make some noise. At this point the man ran away with all her stuff. the lady had no knowledge of what she had done and was not very coherent. What they had seen was a man blowing Scopolamine power at the lady's nose. he waited and talked to her as she fell under his control.
this is very common occurrence in santiago these days. this story is one month old.

There may be one rather nasty drawback for those bent on amassing a zombie army -- sporadic bouts of unchecked aggression in the target.

?We?ve had cases in the emergency room in which we would have to treat both the victim who was intoxicated with the drug and the criminal whom he had beaten up,? Dr. Camilo Uribe, an expert on the drug based at San Jose University Hospital, told GlobalPost.

ayeeeeeee -- as if the blackouts, the household robberies, the drought, the cholera. the crack, the dengue and the chikungunya were not enough!
