Many never left. There are some that are working on one of the roads here. Probably about 10 or so. I usually talk to them when I walk by. Horribly hot and labor intensive work. My kid's brother (also Haitian) didn't leave either. He went to jail for one day for working during the quarentena. Now he's working construction. We had his kid (my now adopted grandkid) over for the weekend.

Some of the Haitians that worked for the Russian travel group left. Others found other jobs. If I had to guess, I would say 75% stayed throughout the quarantena.
Highest respect to the Haitian minority in the DR. You see them literally raising this country: in the construction, in the agriculture. Not so many loitering around colmados.

Hotel recommondation please for late arrival at Las Americas

Will arrive on august 1st with Iberia at 7:30 pm.
Rental car offices close at 6 pm because of the curfew.

So I need a safe place for one night.

I like 'Hotel Mango' in Boca Chica, but is it open?

Anyone know if they are open or which place can you recommend?

Contact Lawrence de Rijk, he's the owner of the Boat House and Rolling Stone hotel, he'll be glad to help you out.
If you want to contact him send me a PM for his contact details.

The Hampton by Hilton (809-375-4000) is right by the airport or if you want to stay in Boca Chica the Batey Hotel Boutique (809-523-5986) is decent.

Neither in the DR nor in Haiti have working people anything to say about the government deals, investment, planning or corruption.
I have only shown my respect to the proletariat, not to the ruling class.
Blessings, as your path works for you.
Enjoy your day, as you so see fit.
