Merry Christmas from the DR...

A lot of work for middle age gringos ! But having to listen to Blu Six as the background music for the beach scenes made me suicidal - and on Christmas no less.

The soundtrack is actually a very nice Bebel Gilberto mix, if you jump and miss the rocks, I'll toss you a line.

Edit...there is the Blu Six, you can still jump!

There are two NFL players in the video, Jared Odrick, who played with Penn State, then drafted by Miami Dolphins & Jacksonville Jaguars; and i'm standing with Mike Adams, who played for my Alma Mater, Ohio State, and then drafted by the Steelers, and then the Bears. They come to Cabarete every year.

Yesterday, i drove up to the top of the mountain where the Larimar mine is located. The mine sits pretty far up the mountain, and is the only place where the Larimar stone is found in the world. The entrance to the mine is surrounded by a camp of corrugated tin shacks, full of Haitians and Dominicans. I climbed down around 70ft into the mineshaft, and then started walking around the spider-like web of different shafts that branch out. Further into the shaft, there is another shaft that goes down another 100ft or so straight down into the mountain. All in all, it loooks like they have dug about 200ft down into the center of the mountain. This doesn't include the dozens of branches that go off into different directions once you are down inside the mountain.

Wow Frank! You are truly adventurous! Thank you! How much do you think those miners are paid?
