frank, thanks for this answer. please, do not engage in argument with caonabo, ok? don't let him mess up with this thread and your adventure.

caonabo, this is a fun thread about frank's little moto adventures in DR. you will not engage him on the open forum any further, is it understood? please take your argument to PMs, i don't want this thread decompose into personal agenda manifestation.

Duly noted, and in strict compliance here on out.

A: This is not Haiti! This is RD!
B: The deforestation is on the RD side of the border, not Haiti. This is what Haitians have done to the RD, over the decades. Do not be mistaken by the falsehoods presented here, within this video. The director was not in Haiti. There is not one Haitian flag to be seen within this presentation.
C: What about the Dominican children? That does not fit his narrative.
D: Yes, throw your petty change and candy at the children. Do not try to assist them in their needs, or any other way possible. Maybe a bottle of water? Food? No. Treat them like trophy pieces for your video presentation. Exploitation at it's worst.
E: Not all Dominicans are created equal.
Ay Francisco!

The post quoted above should be deleted.

I'm new on the board and have browsed through this thread which is BTW great source of information and as new member I realized right away that this was a sanctuary thread due to its narrative, messages and information.

Why would anyone try to trash it with such low level of perception/comprehension is beyond reasoning.

To the OP, great stories and videos, I do enjoy them and are a great source of information. Thank you!

Thanks Frank. I enjoy these vids. I haven't toured the country in at least five years. It looks like it's time to do another grand tour.

Frank, I don't always follow this thread but the recent videos posted are great and most appreciated. You are vividly recording some enlightening parts of this lovely country, far and wide, that many readers nor visitors get to see. Thank you so much and you have given me a strong desire to visit the border regions.

I do think they should/could be duplicated in the Videos/Trip Report/Best of DR sections to be picked up by a wider audience.

So the Route 41 from Cruce de Ocoa, through SJ Ocoa and on to Bonao is all paved now?
Is there a bus service along that highway as well?
Five years ago, the road to Ocoa was barely finished and beyond that is was gravel and mud, as I recall from one of your previous videos.

There is around 11km that is still unpaved. But they were grating it as we went past, so it looks like they are getting to pave a portion of the 11km. everything else is brand new road and made for motorcycles!!

The forum can get a little crazy sometimes, and there are some members who just enjoy being a pia, but there are some posters who I have always enjoyed, and you, Frank, are one of them. Whether it be your earlier posts about the bar or your most rest travels around the DR, I have enjoyed and been enlightened by them, and I have looked forward to reading them all. Thanks again for sharing your DR experience with us.

Sorry about the typo. I did attempt to correct it, but it just didn't work. However, I think you get my drift.

If 10 or 15 years ago someone told me that one day you would be able to drive from the north coast of the DR to Barahona in 4-hours, i would never have believed them. Now, with highway (41) from Piedra Blanca to Rancho Arriba and San Jose de Ocoa beautifully paved (except for 11km of grated dirt), it's not only possible, but its stunningly beautiful!!

When i was on the road last week, they were grated a section of the 11km of dirt, and looked as if they were getting ready to pave that as well. If they manage to pave the remaining 11km, then the entire trip from Cabarete to Barahona will take less than 3:45! That's amazing. It's one of the most beautiful drives on the island for a car, but it's even better on a motorcycle.

I second that emotion.
