Still looking for another source for this story. It appears that no other news media is touching it at this point?

I guess I am just gullible and believe people when they say stuff, I never understand people who make up stories but many people seem to!!

I missed the part about shooting the door, i just thought the guy shot up in the air type thing.
The part I thought was strange was that they stayed at the hotel an extra 5 hours when their plane was delayed, if i was that scared about being at a hotel I would get a taxi and wait at the airport.

Fine you dr1ers might be right about this one!

... What is the RCMP going to do in Canada for something that happened in the DR. LTSteve

Thanks for the link, dv8.

I read the recent reviews, many of which spoke of the events which are claimed to have occurred. My sense is that many may have been written by members of the group the girls who claim they were attacked were part of.

Also there were responses by the hotel to many of them.

The response to the post by the girls who claim they were attacked is quite interesting:

Cservicebpsj, Quality & Customer Service department at Bahia Principe San Juan, responded to this review
yesterday
Dear Guest,

We are very concerned after reading your comment and we sincerely feel overwhelmed about the situation you reported. We would like to assure you that the Quality & Customer Service department always tries to investigate all the issues received from our different clients.

Concerning your comments, we would like to inform you that the event you described goes against our operation and standards of service and under any circumstance we would support such inadequate behaviour towards our customers. As per our files, we do not have any record of this serious allegation against the hotel staff and the situation that you described. Please allow us to remember you that as per our records, what we have on file is the complaint from several rooms on your villa that you were disturbing them. Because of that our security staff together with the night manager went to your room to investigate the case, you did not open the door and you were screaming in your room until the friends you called came over there. When you finally opened the door, there were just you and your friends inside the room. Please be advice that our guest security and well-being are very important to us and we carry out a great effort to make sure our guests not only remain safe but also that they feel safe as well.

We still hope to welcome you once again at Bahia Principe San Juan to experience the hospitality of our people, the quality of our services and facilities, and change any misperception you may have about us.

Best regards,

Johanny Arvelo

I believe the hotel.

Maybe the RCMP can look into these loons and see if they have a history of scams.

Sergeant Preston and his faithful dog Yukon King can sort it.

I Suppose that you can find a Loony (Sorry for the Canadian Pun) or a stalker about anywhere and IMHO only that would makethat story plausible. A crazy person that was doing it intentionally, but that you can find anywhere (INCLUDING Tbay ! But, to have that many people and hotel staff "in on it" I have strong doubts and "shots fired?" There would be police there in minutes . I Live about 20 Minutes from that resort and many of the people that work there come from this town. Shots fired here in town draws a huge response by police. A resort would be even higher priority.

Regardless of what may or may not have happened or what is exaggerated or whether the girls were partying and things got out of hand or not. Or maybe the "boys " got a bit over zealous in their pursuit, this is NOT indicative of the resorts, nor the Dominican people. the men ,mostly, are guilty of their macho , fresh attitudes which can scare a woman that is not accustomed toit. But there are plenty of gringas to choose from, and they know it !

The resort is going to cover their ass no matter what, every room getting the safes broken in by staff, other staff giving key cards to open doors... This resort is needs a flush of the scum.... Btw, the bartender that pulled my friend out of the shower was thrown out of the building at gun point.... Motive is there and other staff upset at what happened.. The resort refused to call police,... More shame on the travel agency for not getting help right away... CBC will be covering it soon.... And she doesn't want money... If it safes one life or someone from being raped it was worth it to say something... She also said she would hate herself if she didn't say anything and something did happen to someone at that resort.

My Wife just told me that someone on her FB posted a "Vacation takes a horrific Turn" story in DR and says it sounded like bullsh*t or they were drunk.
I asked what the story was about, well it was THIS story and I told her I was the only one who believed it on dr1....
We had a good laugh about her thinking I was an idiot :)
It seems to be making the rounds on Social Networking!

If this is the case and it is going viral albeit in a tiny content, relatively to viral internet news, then these girls should be very very worried. Hotels have a lot to lose, serious lawyers and we are dealing with DR, they can make anything happen. Looks like they were given a chance by the hotel to shush and move on, unless they have evidence of anything they could end up in quite a bowl of poop.

It's time to own up and kill the virus before it gets ahead of them.

Shirley you can't be serious?

The hotel couldn't give a flying **** about bogus stories affecting their occupancy rates when their guests are paying $800 (retail) all inclusive for a week's stay. If this story stops a few people from booking, they couldn't care less. Why? Because odds are anyone who would believe it are likely to be a PIA guest anyway.

I am sure Shirley is wonderful but I don't know her, but anyways
I disagree, you understand hotel chains have lawyers watching all claims and many false accusations are turned over? It's not about one effecting rates, it is avoiding the bandwagon that these accusations begin. I doubt you do or you might not have made such a naive remark. Just like hotels are sued all the time, so are guests if they go down this road. Although I'd fear being held here rather than anything else, which might happen if this goes to court and it is taken to court here. Silly move if they go there, they can't win or there would have already been arrests, no evidence. Time to put it to sleep, nothing good will come of it, or benefit them.

That story and I do mean story, reminds me of the old Playboy or Penthouse forum articles. They all started the same way. ..............."it was a hot steamy night in the Caribbean" "all I had on was a see-through linen skirt that clung to my body from the moist humid air"
" he was a strong powerful man with chiseled abs, smooth skin and a handsome rugged face.
" I attend a small all girls college in a Midwestern town"
" he looked at me hungrily"

Most hotels in the US have chain or bar type locks inside the rooms that prevent someone unwanted from entering even if they have a key. These places have PLENTY of money to put in security cams in the hallways to document staff behavior and make the rooms secure. The thing they have now is a swipe card that you put into a slot when you enter the room to turn the power on and lock the door. That way you can't leave without remembering the card and you turn the power off when you're not in the room.

A General Manager should have taken written statements from all the people involved in an incident report. When in doubt, "Cover your ass."

i don't think the hotel would have come to the defense of some guy who had just put three rounds into the building, breaking the plate glass door. somebody has to pay for that

exactly. What struck me as odd is why did they continue to stay at the hotel after they were raped?
If anything they would've gotten the hell out of there. Also when they contacted their families why
didn't the family contact the embassy? They would've dispatched an official to look into the matter.

This story has more holes than a shooting target.

if i am staying at a location, and some guy shells down the joint, i am out of there before he thinks of pegging off another round. what is there to stop him from pulling the piece again?

read the story again.. they were not raped.. And I think that you are completely wrong about the Embassy "dispatching someone"... of course I do not know about the Canadians.. but the US Embassy certainly would not. They will send someone to visit you in jail, but that is it.
