This thread is about a new flight from Israel to DR, not about Jews/Israelis. Bear that in mind before you post.

I don't know about the DR's profile among Israelis so just how many tourists it will attract from that market remains to be seen. OTOH they also mention the potential for travel in the other direction - there is already a market for holy land pilgrims in the DR.

Dominicans do not need a Visa to enter Israel.

Israel Visa not required[95] 3 months This from Visa List for Dominicans.

Yes, that is an added incentive. There are already companies organising pilgrimage tours to the holy land but in the past they would've had to to fly via the US or Europe.

I also found out recently that Israelis entering the DR don't need to buy a tourist card.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I actually have met more Israelis here in the past week than in all of the 4 years I've been here.

Nacional sells Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Can't get better than that.

I have Philly in my fridge now, but it certainly isn't that good. I was eluding to some whipped type cream cheese they sell in those specialty stores, they don't have here in the DR.

Back on topic. When I lived in SD there were a few college students from Israel.

there are families in DR with strong ties to israel. late willy brugal paiewonsky completed his education there. he said there were many dominicans with jewish roots who took the opportunity to study in israel and live in kibbutzim (did i say that right?)

maybe such flight would be a good chance for some to reconnect with old friends and family members?

Yes you did, kibbutzim is plural, Kibbutz is singular, or a particular community.......
I'll turn you into a Jew yet.........lol

i think the flight will be seasonal as there is not much traffic going either way. lets wait and see. israelis have far better choice to spend vacation else where than to come all the way to punta cana.

Many Israelis vacation in Turkey and Greece. But I disagree with what you are saying, I think those planes will be FULL every time they arrive. The DR is a fairly Jew friendly Country and I won't be surprised in a few years to see Hanukah Bushes growing along side those Palm Trees here. :classic:
