More like a repeat of the Cuban Missile Crisis. You can bet it's being watched closely in NA.
I expect the USA to make an even bigger donation of something in the next few weeks or criticize China in the Dominican press soon.

I remember when China began to flex her muscle, the American government didn’t like it and was very vocal about it. The Catalina power plant had been on sale and no one seemed interested. Comes the Chinese and make an offering; look and behold, a few days later a bid from the USA appeared out of nowhere for the same power plant. I bet had the Chinese never made their bid the USA one would had never happened either.

I think it was in Nuria’s show that the previous Chinese ambassador or whatever she was representing China’s interests in the DR. She couldn’t contain her laughter and joy upon being asked why she thinks the USA reacted the way it did given China’s muscle flexing in the DR. It seems that she expects China to overpower the USA in world power and she’s enjoying what appears to be the fall of the USA vis-a-vis the rise of China.

Maybe Chinese will soon be the tourists coming to the AIs and DR ?
Kind of doubt it - And talk about $0.00 propinas. - The Chinese are more tight fisted than Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics.

Absolutely not true, they are rude tourists but not cheap. On my last bus tour through Europe we played tag team with a Japanese tourist group, staying the same hotels...etc through 7 different countries. Very friendly and polite. I mentioned this to our tour guide and she agreed and then said thank god they aren't Chinese because they are rude and pushy.

There’s only one China 🇨🇳.

Supporting a stance where Taiwan 🇹🇼 is declared independent of China is detrimental to all nations sovereignty.

Macau, Hong Kong are China.

Don’t feed the trolls!

The US reversing its political stance on it, means nothing when the whole world stands by China’s side on the fact.
OMG. I work with a lot of Taiwanese people who would not agree.

It’s about reality, not wishes.

Taiwan is China’s territory 100%.

They have a political stance disagreement and it shows between both sides. But the land under their feet belongs to China 100%.

That’s the reason the majority of nations, save for a few, recognize China’s right to it as well.

Currently fifteen states recognise Taiwan as the ROC (and thus do not have official relations with Beijing): Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Holy See, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Nicaragua, Palau, Paraguay, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Swaziland and Tuvalu.

The DR switched from Taiwan to China.
A pivotal change in our relations with China that should bring lasting relations between our two nations.

China will soon be the largest economy in the world.
China is the world leader in communications.
China’s outpacing the whole other countries put together in space technology and exploration.
China’s is outpacing the world in quantum technology.
China is reinventing the wheel, so to speak, when it comes to terraforming deserts into forests.
The Day China gives into western demands and adopts democracy, is the Day we become peons to China’s Empire.

For the DR at this point in time, China has become an important player in our development.

Only time will tell, if the Dominican grinder aplatana the Chinese or they make chowmein with us...

I have no issue with Chinese people in general, same as I have no problem with Americans, Europeans and Russians. In Canada we have all of the above and many more. I love Dominicans and their Country.
My issue is with ideology not ethnic origins.
My Grand daughter was adopted at 2 years old from China...A real treasure now at 13 years old.
My issue is with Politics and Motives of generosity........ The Trojan Horse is not just a Greek myth it is a real honest to goodness trap of today. Regardless of the source., or the ideology behind it.
There is nothing wrong with receiving gifts from China or the USA even Canada Governments just have to be careful of the strings attached.
I recall when Canada ,in total, donated over $52,Billion CDN to the Commonwealth of Barbados, mostly infrastructure. Only to be out done by the UK. Now that Barbados has all it needs they want to be totally independent of the Commonwealth. And, it was difficult for a Canadian Company to sell products or services there. That happens all the time when there are no strings attached.
I notice the new Government in DR cancelled the Monti Cristie port agreement with China. Good move!
I think I shall cut this short.
Don't paint every Chinese person with the same brush.

The CCP is brutal.
Your cheerleading attitude is surprising to me as you have
always come across a fair-minded individual on this forum.
Taiwan is it's own country and is the only real democracy
in all of East Asia. When, not if Taiwan falls to a Chinese military
invasion, countries like Japan and the Philippines will have
even more grievances with Emperor Xi and his never ending
quest for world dominance. The negative impact(s) the
CCP's action will have on the Asian Pacific region far out weigh the
benefits taking Taiwan by force will have a global scale.

How can anyone not call out pure evil for what it is? China is evil and should be treated as such.

Interesting that one day its an equipment donation and the next they are caught hacking into the DR government.
I would not take anything coming from China as a gift.
Beware of Chinese bearing gifts or something like that!

China gov didn’t hack anything.
Hackers can be from anywhere and use alternate ip addresses to mask their operations.

VPN technology is good and works but perhaps they (DR Gov) were able make this determination
based on previous attacks on other country's networks using the same entry points.

It was journalistic and opinions mostly.
No way they can pinpoint the origins 100%.
Even the NSA or CIA can’t!

It’s more a gut feeling if you were to ask for confirmation.

Much like Morse code tappers had a personal fingerprint, same happens with hackers.
The MO is usually the first telltale of who’s behind.

But there lies the problem! Most of these hackers carry personal hacks aside from their jobs for gov outfits in their regions.

These could had been paid for hack jobs, by request of a local actor.

Since in most cases they can provide the hackers with the entry point in the servers.
All they need is one door to open!

99.99% of hacks were related with an insider provided entry point.

The culprit or mastermind is here in the DR.
The operator who knows which country or hole in the jungle/desert/etc...
