a vaccine is whats needed in the DR....now...
One world leader, not the brightest bulb in the UK, has already warned his countrymen they should prepare to be re-vaccinated, which will cause even more distribution issues as time goes on.

Of course. The problem is needing 7.8 billion dose (X2 for some of the more popular vaccines). That is what is causing a bit of a delay in deliveries.

Plus the "getting it into the arms" issue. I just got my first Pfizer shot with a scheduled one for 3 weeks out. The firefighter that gave it to me said they "only" got the Moderna since that was the only one available - implying he thought the Pfizer was the gold standard. Now in FL one has to have a FL ID - Driver's license -etc - to get on the list - so don't exactly know WHY the snowbirds are HERE but they ARE. I thought the fact that we were a hot spot would keep them away. Have ANY arrived in the DR?

Is there any success in getting the Dominicans to "socially distance" and wear masks? I know it has been hell getting the Puerto Ricans into any sort of compliance and that island has had to go in and out of very heavy lock downs. I have difficulty imagining Dominicans staying 6 feet apart. I remember when the Metro first came into service and the guards were trying to keep just one person each in the molded seats - hopeless.

I think it depends on location. I don't go to the capital much, but when I do go I see about 95% compliance with masks. Social distancing doesn't exist, except in some of the bigger stores when there are lines out the wazoo. Could you imagine social distancing on a guagua?

I live in Boca Chica and I would guess mask compliance is about 80%, with about 50% having nose and mouth covered. I wear a mask whenever I'm in a store (Ole), but that is it. We came back from the East Side today on a guagua and I didn't wear one because I had a window seat with an open window.

The DR leads the small countries of Latin America in vaccinated people up to April 1.

What's going on in Venezuela is a disgrace, a government that truly doesn't care about its people.

Guatemala is the most populated of the small countries and look at that, it doesn't reaches 130,000.
