We know that very well, but our healthcare system is not sustainable to the tune of a high rate of hospitalization required for an open doors policy at the moment.

This is not about the mortality rate being low enough, is about the hospitals and care facilities being able to operate without collapsing 100%.

After all people still will get sick from other non-covid issues and will require attention at the same time.
If that is the concern, how do you explain all the inconsistent practices that are going on? How many hundreds of thousands have been arrested for being out past curfew and locked in small confined areas just to be released back into the population? And if the government wasn't afraid of the chofer Sindico they would enforce the limit on people in conchos and busses. Just a few examples. When things were at their worst in N.Y. (the idiot Gov stuck virus positive people in nursing homes) and the fear of over running the hospital facilities president trump sent a refurbed hospital ship plus they set up the Javits center to handle the anticipated over flow which never materialized.

Arrests are a medium of reinforcement of policies in place.

From what I can gather, our limited policies have been working unlike other places without them. Our healthcare system never collapsed and even at its worth moment people still got a bed and care.

If the DR government really cared about their population safety they would have outlawed motochonco use under 21 years of age. It baffles me how so many teenagers and young men die every single day in these accidents. On my Facebook i come across these RIP posts at least twice a month by relatives posting about how their son/brother just died in a motochonco /paselo accident or is in hospital.

I bet more people died in road accidents this year in DR than covid.

But apparently COVID is a higher threat to human life in this country.

They say you can't fix stupid. Poor driving habits, no helmets and a plethora of other voluntary or self infected factors contribute to the moto casualty rate. There are laws to address most of these circumstances. The same with Covid, the govt asks people to wear masks and distance when not at home and as with the moto laws doesn't score particularly high when it come to how and when the established rules are enforced.

Since people still choose to drive foolishly and also choose to not follow the virus protocols both are an ongoing concern except with a contagious virus, one careless or indifferent person can harm many in a short amount of time. Apples and oranges as far as I am concerned to the direct comparison between vehicle fatalities and the consequences of rampant virus spread. I only hope that those who get detained are fortunate enough to be grouped with others who are not infected, although the wisdom of putting many people together in a confined space is clearly not a good idea - it may be the only option they have. Sure it all could and should be done differently but it's not and the consequences are on the Govt and the people for ignoring the published protocols. A working vaccine appears to be the best way to deal with one of these two problems. Sorry no vaccine yet for stupidity while operating a moto.

"Arrests are a medium of reinforcement of policies in place." It is a "medium" that does little but help spread the virus. It makes no sense, and the jam packed conchos and buses? I didn't see you address that contradiction to your policies???

Just viruses and bacteria doing what they have done since we evolved from the primordial ooze. They’re competing for survival and mutating is their first line of defence. The only difference is the viruses got smarter and we didn’t. We started playing with viruses for war application purposes, and it’s come back to bite us in the ass. The Wuhan virus research facility where the Covid virus supposedly escaped from, was focused on research for military applications. Don’t worry about being nuked. Vaporization by extreme heat is an instantaneous and painless death. Worry about more unintentional releases of mutated viruses from military research facilities in China, Russia, Britain, and the US. Releases that have the potential to cause long and painful death on a worldwide scale.
no evidence exists that Coronavirus ever escaped or was even contained in a lab.

20 minutes a day is what they say you need. I don't know if it's direct or indirect sunlight, but still it doesn't sound like much. The problem of course is 2 feet of snow and below freezing temps. Add some ice to that and I can see why people won't go outside.

Yes Doctor Spock anything else I need to learn off Fox News?
Nah bro, you just learned it from me, and you can also ask anyone else who takes Vitamin D, every day , after Covid
To help their Immune System ...

... but you just refuse to let it sink in, because of your very obvious Bias

so thank you for proving my point ..

I know 5 persons personally who have died from it. All were obese and diabetic. I've had 3 employees who have had it and were asymptomatic.

I agree. Note my post says,”supposedly”, escaped. It was one of the many theories being spread by the US and other countries during the initial outbreak because of China’s reticence (coverup) to openly disclose the actual source of the release. To date, no hard evidence has been found to confirm where the release actually occurred. The WHO has been given permission by the Chinese government to pursue an investigation but at this stage of the pandemic, it’s highly unlikely they will find anything that points the finger directly at the Wuhan lab. My point was the vulnerability of labs to the intentional and unintentional releases of mutated viruses not just the Covid virus. Tampering with the microbial world is akin to tampering with the latch on Pandora’s box. It’s just a matter of time.

MOST deaths in the world are at least a partial suicide. What you consume and how you act, who you interact with is mostly within your control. It's a fact, the number one cause of covid death is obesity.
