Read the local forecasts for local conditions. Overall the Caribbean will remain rather dry for the next day or two as the tropical wave in the Western Caribbean moves out and before the tropical wave East of the Lesser Antilles moves in.

This is one of the nicest times of the year. The heat has backed off just a little and we have lots of sunshine with ocean breezes to keep us cool.

We have our usual one or two tropical waves hanging about bringing showers and the odd thundershower.

The expectation is that we will remain relatively dry for the next few days. A tropical wave over the Lesser Antilles will be moving in in the next 24 hours bringing showers/thunderstorms to the area. The wave will steadily move to the Central Caribbean over the weekend. So, we may just have a few more showers than usual starting around the end of the weekend.

Generally, we have conditions that are quite normal for this time of the year, sunny with a few lazy drifting clouds and perhaps a morning or evening shower.

Enjoy!

Isolated showers are North of 15 North and East of 76 West over Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and the Virgin/Leeward Islands.

Strong thunderstorms are moving over the Windward Islands.

Moisture levels are slowly on the increase and remain high through the weekend.

There should still be plenty of sunshine around to enjoy the beach.

An Eastern Caribbean tropical wave is along 70 West and South of 16 North, moving West. The wave is combining with an upper trough to produce scattered showers/thunderstorms over the Leewards, the Virgins and later on today, over Puerto Rico. The wave will have its way with us from tonight onwards and we can expect wet weather over the weekend.

Looks like we have a late season tropical depression developing. Newly formed tropical depression 27 is located over the SouthEastern Caribbean Sea, about 100 miles West of St. Vincent.

Upper level support for development looks good at this stage. Models suggest that this system will evolve from the Windward Islands during the next day or two and into the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico, Tuesday and beyond. Longer term forecasting is difficult, with some models suggesting good wind shear, which will inhibit the system, and others suggesting development only from Thursday onwards.

Here is the 3 day forecast path http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at2+shtml/025133.shtml?3day?large
and this is what our satellite picture looks like currently

Tropical Depression 27 is well South of us. The system remains under Westerly shear. Strong bursts of convection continue to develop over the Southern Leewards and Windward Islands producing heavy rain and gusty winds.

The upper level high over the South Eastern Gulf continues to maintain drier air over the North Western Caribbean.

South of this, a tropical wave along 83 West and a low pressure near 11 North 77 West are interacting with diffuence in the upper level to produce a large area of scattered thunderstorms around 16 North and 72 West.

As you can see from the satellite image, for us, a mixed bag, rain, sunshine, tropical showers and thunderstorms. Read the local observations to see what is happening in specific areas.

An upper trough extends into the North Eastern Caribbean from the West/Central Atlantic, giving the area from the Leewards to Hispaniola dry air/strong subsidence and clear conditions. This is expected to remain through the weekend. We should see our normal thundershowers or tropical showers with the air just slightly cooler as a result of the cold front in the Gulf.

Showers and thunderstorms over the NorthWestern Caribbean Sea are primarily associated with the renmants of tropical depression 27. This system continues ro produce sustained winds near tropical storm force, but it still does not appear to have a closed surface circulation. A further low pressure over Eastern Honduras is producing some thunderstorm activity near its center, however this system is inland and further development is not expected unless it travels off-shore. A possible tropical depression or storm is possible over the NorthWestern Carribbean Sea during the next day or so, either through regeneration of Tropical Depression 27 or development of the low over Honduras.

Although well past us, this is a complex system of disturbed weather and the NHC is advising that interests around the area should monitor the progress. Even if a further tropical storm or depression does not develop, lots of water is forecast for Honduras, Guatamala and Belize.

We should get drifting rain-bearing clouds associated with the outflow of the system, but we should be sunny and the regular morning or afternoon showers, perhaps a little heavier than usual.

9 Days until Hurricane Season ends formally.. but we've had a storm or two after November 30th.. anyway, I'm beginning to relax!

Tropical depression Gamma is now a skeleton with only a few thundershowers over the NorthWestern Caribbean.

A strong upper high is centered South of Hispaniola creating mostly clear skies. Low clouds may still being a shower or two.

A cold front will move into the NorthWestern Caribbean Monday night and will shift any moisture toward the South West. I guess we'll have to take out a sheet to sleep under. ;)

Aha! 7 Days till the official end of hurricane season.

A strong and large non-tropical low pressure system over the Central Atlantic centered about 1100 miles SouthWest of the Azores islands is moving slowly South-SouthWestward. This system is gradually acquiring tropical characteristics and could become a tropical storm later today.

We are under the influence of a Northern Cold front and that is why our weather is just a tad cooler. It is wonderful. Here you can see the front clearly. http://www.goes.noaa.gov/browsh.html

For local conditions, see the local observations.

Hurricane Season officially ends on Wednesday, November 30th. And so, for 2005, I'm taking the winter off and this thread ends today, until next year. We've had tropical storms into December and if anything happens, we will let you know.

http://www.goes.noaa.gov/browsh.html

It will be interesting to see our winter weather this year. Last year was a little colder than usual and some evenings I even slept under a light summer blanket.

For general weather conditions, please see http://www.dr1.com/travel/expect/weather.shtml

and of course, for local conditions, Planner, PJT, Lynn, and Larry or Dolores will keep you up to date and informed.

Well today's the last day of the official hurricane season. But, as Yogi Berra used to say, "It Ain't Over Till Its Over"; Tropical Depression Gamma is still active.

I heard it was "It ain't over till the fat lady sings" whatever that may be, but for sure it won't be the "official fat lady".

Not quite sure what you're referring to Mirador? Perhaps a joke that I'm not getting - It won't be the first time ;)
